We are still favoured to survive: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/three-clubs-relegated-premier-league-21334968
I am afraid that all the pundits say they think Norwich will go down. I would like to hear from Dave why he thinks they didn't kick on after the promotion. Delia has a reputation for keeping a tight grip on the purse strings, so has that contributed to it?
The problem I see is that whilst we went on a fantastic run (bettered or equalled by only Liverpool and Saints I think) every other team picked up a reasonable number of points which meant that the pack just got tighter and we did not rise as far in the table as we might have hoped/expected. The villa result, I fear, was massive. When we were 1-0 up we were sat in 14th place, at the end of the game we are 19th!!! And now Burnley get a result at OT that moves them further away from us. I know we only need three teams to be worse than us but it is soooo tight in that bottom 6 teams....I think it might need more than the magic 40pts this season - for us, that is another 6 wins, not sure I can see that is very easy in the games we have left
Got to beat Brighton and probably Everton really. As HH says all teams can take points off each other. Norwich are bottom but been in a lot of games and even Liverpool have only just won a few games at the top.
It is so frustrating after working miracles to get into the fighting for survival pack. We revert back to pre Pearson type and throw away 6 incredibly valuable points and are right back in the mire again. The way I see it, it is two from five now us, Villa, Spam, Muff and Brighton now. Norwich are as good as down.
13 gamiest to get 17 points Last 8 games we got 14 points against similar level opposition We are still in the best form of the bottom five despite the so called expert pundits telling us the honeymoon is over
Four or five of those games, could be written off really. Man U(a), Pool(h), Chel(a), Citeeehhh(h), and maybe Arse(a). I'd say, neck, to knee and back to armpits!!
To put a slightly different spin on this... Since NP took over we have averaged 1.5 points per game (14 points in 9 games) We have 13 games left so at 1.5 points per game that would/should/could garner us a further 19 points - leaving us on 42 points!!! Still a very long way to go, and squeaky bum time.... Are we out of it, NO, not by a long shot, but we do have it in us now to do this, we just need to make sure, obviously, that we make this a reality....
When you look at the table on the top 4 teams have more than 40 points so the rest are still in a relegation battle. I have not done any analysis but it strikes me that apart from the top 4 the points are being shared around quite evenly and no team is getting away, which I suppose is helpful.
Well Arsenal sum it up nicely - closer to the relegation zone but only lost the same amount as Man City/Leicester I think! Basically outside of Liverpool and Man City on a good day everyone can beat each other. Just look at how Everton and Southampton have shot up the table.
