Remember its never over till Fat Sam sings Which song sheet will he pick up from the bottom five clubs who are all in this years relegation battle West Ham and Everton have had him and then got rid so that leaves three Would we want him, would the board, would he make the best of the players we have Just been watching the Sheff United game, they look like we used to, mostly British, hard working and enough skill to cause most teams problems, a bit like Burnley but would we want to watch Burnley every week, probably not Time for the club to decide, do we want to be a Burnley or Sheff United, or do we spend millions to emulate the Tottenham and Arsenals of this league
Well we have been consistent for a few years but sometimes teams just have a bad season and drop like a Stoke /Swansea . Burnley do well with what they have but one season they might suffer . I can see Bournemouth being in mote danger soon . We just aren't getting those tight wins we got last season .
Having just seen the Man U comeback perhaps we should fill up our team with the youngsters who really want to play for us
Being like Burnley would be attainable if we got hold of a manager with experience of English football and gave them time. Where would we be now if we had retained Sean Dyche with financial security in the background, and allowed him to buid a team over a few years ? As long as the Pozzos send us journeymen managers who have never stayed anywhere for longer than a year, and combine that with journeymen players who have not hit the top in their own countries. Employing a different constellation every season - then sometimes we will get lucky, but are still an accident which has been waiting to happen for a long time. Football clubs need continuity and we do not have that.
The fact QSF did comeback suggests they maybe ran out of ideas ?! We need better fitness and younger players even if we buy more . Apprantley Burnley had the same 10 outfield players as in January .. How many would we have?
We have an under 23 squad that are not being used at all in the first team They will be fit and hungry But will need a core of the experienced players for leadership Too many youngsters could be as bad as just using the experienced players Do we have time to get the balance right
Indeed, such a shame. But, today shows where we are. See initial posts to this thread and it hasn't changed. We are doomed.
I am usually a chirpy chap to be honest. But i am a realist and this is the reality. Probably not. Our only hope is that there will be 3 ****ter teams than us. Given our position at the moment I see that as highly unlikely.
I have to blame the substitutions for this defeat Deeney would have been better than Gray and Quina better than Chalabah and as for the final one why is he even on the bench
I did not understand why Delo was taken off, he was working well with Sarr. Deeney would have been a better replacement imo. Sarr impressed though, just needs game time and to work up a relationship with other forwards.
Exactly, Taking Delo off would have given Saints a lift. All the hype over Deeney, maybe last week with early substitution because of injury resulted in him not coming off the bench. But yesterday play him down the middle, Delo playing of him with like a ten and with Sarr's pace to frighten them seemed a no brainer to me.
