Seriously, I thought it was if you were born on the Tyne, either side, was always that when I was growing up , media change things to suit themselves.
My Sandancer mates consider themselves Geordies but mostly support Sunderland, same with the Hebburn, Jarrow lot.

 

Scotswood and Walker lad, so definitely a Geordie.

I escaped the grasp and corrupting influence if my dad before my teens thankfully.
