Cooper, Grant, Galloway, Scarr, Wilson, Edwards, Broom, Houghton, Camara, Jephcott, Hardie. Subs Burton, Gillesphey, Mayor,Garrick, Agard, Randell, Law. Mayor on the bench...good to see he doesn't just walk back in the team.
3-0...Law...90+7mins......F/T. Solid home win......secure defence. Good looking strong subs bench. 8th in the league.....they were 4th until other results changed.
Fans at the game are ecstatic with the performance "never looked like conceding" "best performance of the Ryan Lowe era", "could have been 5", " thanks for the practice match". Only disappointment is the third goal. I was confident we'd win. Why spoil my 2-0?
All I can say is it was as good as it gets and thoroughly deserved. I'm not sure about not looking like conceding but we kept a clean sheet so a bonus however it was achieved. Cooper had no right to stop one of their efforts. Defence played very well, midfield played very well and the strikers even though not on the score sheet this time played very well. Sheffield Wednesday are not a bad side and did give us a game. We were just too strong all around for them. This was a real team effort and the players looked as though they really wanted this. Cannot praise them all enough to a man. Even the Ref was decent for once and not just because we won. Consistency is what we need so one performance doesn't define a season. Keep it going Argyle.
That's exactly right. Clearly a great performance and result but it's just one game. Just as with a defeat, can't read too much into it so early in the season. What it does tell us is we CAN do it but we need to do it week in and week out.
I thought you left the biting to your Bear buddies lurking around your cabin.....fishing as well is there no end to your opulent lifestyle .
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday evening due probably to my having imbibed a couple or three. Time wasting. That was the one thing the Ref did mention several times and add on a bit at the end but he still didn't book anyone. This time it was blatantly obvious it was Argyle doing the knock the ball a bit further away, take an age over a throw in, take an even longer time over a goal kick and stand in front of the ball until the Ref says bugger off and stand back there, fall down for a minute or two at regular intervals (Mr Edwards stand up). I cannot complain when I see opposition players do it and Refs not booking players and not take our own to task. I don't like to see it whoever does it. We proved as good at it as all of the rest in this league. I watched a women's game this evening for a while which reminded me I hadn't mentioned time wasting. Spurs ladies did it very well and the commentator called it "game management". The ladies have learned very quickly haven't they.
I'm afraid it's endemic Sensible. I thought I'd relay some comments from the Sheffield version of the Herald. Let's give credit where credit is due. The Pilgrims were good value for the three points and the final scoreline did not flatter them in the slightest. If anything, Plymouth should have won by a far bigger margin. Big praise too for Ryan Lowe. The former Sheffield Wednesday striker got his tactics spot on. His team executed the game plan to a tee. Their pressing was relentless. They hunted in packs and set traps that Wednesday kept on falling into. They won virtually all the second balls. They looked hungrier and punished the Owls' mistakes. Outplayed, outfought and outworked. As bad as Wednesday performed, take nothing away from Plymouth. They were way too good on the day and ought to have been out of sight at half-time. Lowe has assembled a talented squad and turned them into a strong, well-organised outfit.
Well they aren't reporting anything that isn't true are they. I agree it's endemic in the game with the stop start tactics but I still hate it and always will whoever does it. I just don't think Argyle fans can have a pop at Wycombe for this sort of thing when we have had 3 teams do it at Home Park this season and one of them was the home side.
