I don’t know, it’s a strong word so seems unlikely but then football fans can be irrational. But that’s missing the point, I am just using it as a turn of phrase with satisfying alliteration to allude to the section of our fan base that is determined to denigrate him whenever the opportunity arises and unwilling to praise him when he performs well. It’s not all that many fans given in the Premier League he came second in the player of the year award, so clearly most fans felt he was second to Pukki in effectiveness last season. But I don’t think it’s unanimous. So I wouldn’t read too much into the technical meaning of “haters” if I were you, just stick to the phrase idea.
Bolton Wanderers have signed veteran striker Cameron Jerome on an 18-month deal after he was released by Luton. The 36-year-old had his contract with the Hatters terminated by mutual agreement earlier on Friday.
Moving on… anyone know how accurate this is? Looks believable and quite interesting. Eg Gibson our second highest paid player https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/norwich-city/
As a loanee I would doubt it, but it’s possible. If you look at some of the other clubs - eg Boro, you can see the loanees are often ridiculously skewed so cannot believe their salaries are paid in full
Probably the end of that hopeful half-rumour. Such a quiet window for us, even in terms of speculation.
From Rob's salary table, it looks like we've saved around £1.5m in salaries on Ramsey, Cantwell and Hugill, plus whatever fees we got for Cantwell and Hugill. Surely that's enough to finance at least one loan player for the rest of the season.
Some of those look dubious. Hanley 12k per week below Gibson? That looks upside down. Todd only at 17k per week? No wonder he wanted out. I would guess there were signing bonuses that brought down the salaries for some.
Gianoulis & Gibson were loans with options for performance/promotion. Pukki was a free transfer so he's worth every penny. Brum sent Placheta back knackered we should have had a similar option with Hayden . He's probably a good player but he rarely played last season due to injury & we loaned him crocked . God knows how injured players pass medicals
The only way we would sign Skipp would be if we went up and made him our record signing. He's on £49k a week at Spuds
I'm not sure Skipp would fit into Wagner's tactics, where the DM drops into the back 3 to advance the ball with a range of passing as McLean is doing now. Passing is not Skipp's strength (I have some doubts about Hayden as well). McLean, Sørensen and Gibbs do have the passing and defensive skills needed and it may be Hayden does as well but he won't be available for a while. Here's a tactical analysis of McLean's role for those interested: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/23282393.norwich-city-tactical-analysis-kenny-mcleans-new-role/ As Wagner points out: "Kenny brings everything to play this role. He should play a position where he has to have the ability to play long range passes, and short range passes. He is a very intelligent player as well. And obviously, you have to be able to defend and be aggressive in the right moments, especially when this counter press situations come - you have to be intelligent, football intelligent, to really see the danger in the right moments, to build up the rest of the defence quick enough, and he has everything."
Tzolis news - Not at FC Twente anymore apparently. Have we recalled him or have they returned to sender? Could Wagner turn that potential into reality or is he just being shunted straight on to a new loan club?
