Vital we win this match and by a decent margin if possible to make a statement! Liverpool away after this and if we want to pursue Top 4 it's a must win against Watford!
We've got a decent record against Watford and other than them destroying Everton the other week, they've been pretty **** so far this season As above, this is a must home win really if we want to be anywhere near the top 4 / top 6
Need to win this. Next week is Anfield so these points are important. Wont be an easy game though - Watford do have some decent players and are a big physical side.
Watford are ****. We're highly likely to lose at Anfield but win the games either side of it and 6pts from 3 games is fine with me. If we got 2ppg all season from now on we'd be in the CL with over 70 pts. So 6pts from next three would leave us with 23pts from 13 games which is fine. Problem is after that we then have four out of six away games with United (a), Everton (a), Southampton (h), West Ham (h), Leeds (a), Wolves (a) to take us to end of 2021 and the halfway point of the season. But again, 2ppg from that is achievable and realistic, perhaps, if we stay on form and don't put Xhaka back in the team who is a big pile of stinking dogshit (3 wins, 3 draws?). That would put us on 35pts from 19 games.
This is the type of game I can see us slipping up in. However, if we're being told to trust Arteta and believe in what he's doing now with a squad predominantly comprised of his players, he needs to win. Dropping points in this game means all the doubts will be back. Generally under Arteta, we have competed fairly well against the bigger teams (bar Man City who always slap us), but it's been the teams in the lower end of the table that we have struggled against. If we want to see growth in this season, we need to get a convincing performance and result. Liverpool game is effectively a free hit, but it's important to win this one.
This has been a half from hell by Aubameyang, Missed an easy chance, where his poor touch led to Saka tapping the ball in when he was offside, and he missed a gilt-edged chance from the penalty spot. We should be 2-0 up and cruising. Now things are getting very plucky and difficult.
By the way, Kevin Friend can **** off. Danny Rose should have been sent off for two of the most blatant yellow card offences I’ve ever seen, Their midfielders and defenders have been getting away with blatant yellow-card challenges all game and it’s gone unpunished.
Remarkably no, he didn’t even get booked for that forearm smash on Lacazette for the penalty. Unbelievable.
Great finish by ESR, but need to get a 2nd to put this to bed. That goal should really be adding gloss to a comfortable scoreline, though. Watford starting to grow into it since we’ve scored…
Oh my god Aubameyang he may as well be playing for Watford today. Odegaard’s strike looks like it’s going in, and Auba taps it in to be sure when he’s in an offside position…should have left it FFS.
FT. 1-0. Most frustrating win I've seen we should have won that by 3 or 4. Aubayemang was doing his best to make sure we didn't win, it seemed. However, it was thoroughly deserved. Dominated the ball, created way more chances, had more shots and more final third touches. 2 disallowed VAR goals (1 of which would have been a goal had Aubameyang left it), a missed penalty and some inspired goalkeeping from Foster meant we didn't get the scoreline we would have wanted. Nonetheless, we needed that win today with Liverpool up next after the break. Somehow, we are 3 points behind Man City
Just listened to Ranieri moaning about our goal 1. Sarr isn't fouled, he just gets outmuscled by AMN 2. Rose puts the ball out because we have them penned in by their pen box. As he does it the Watford player is already getting to his feet 3. If Watford were on the attack, there's no way they put that ball out 4. Rose shouldn't have even been on the pitch by that stage anyway Conclusion. STFU Ranieri
