Newcastle supporter in peace. Big fan of Arsene Wenger and have a soft spot for Arsenal as well. Think he's done miracles at Arsenal over the years but it's obviously all gone a bit pear shaped since the last 4-5 years. As a club who at one point was regarded as the best in the world and managed to become the first team in Premier League history to go through an entire season unbeaten it must be frustrating to see yourselves struggling to get into fourth spot now. Arsene Wenger is one of the best managers in the world in my opinion but his lack of spending could cost him as the Arsenal fans are beginning to mount the pressure. Just wanted to gauge some opinion on the general consensus and whether you would prefer he'd stay or whether you think it's time for him to go. Here is a poll. Good luck this season (except on the 10th March) but I still hope we'll finish above you come the end of the season and few will blame me for thinking that we're in with a chance once Ba , Tiote and Cisse come back home.
His time has come. Happens for all managers. it's up to the board to realise this and move him upstairs before he does to us what Clough did to forest.
Have to say that anyone calling for Wenger's head is really silly. Ther is nothing to make me believe that a new manager would persuade the board to spend more, or players to come to Arsenal intead of Man city, or make our players get injured less. All things that dwarf Wenger's impact on our results.
I agree that this is the unfortunate state of affairs we find ourselves in. If there was sufficient investment I would want Wenger to be the man to turn the group of players into a team. However, one wonders how much Wenger's insistence on persisting with dross prevents us from bringing in new blood.
He should go, he has consistently proving sturborn by sticking with mediocre players for too long. No one, I mean, no one is bigger than my beloveth Arsenal.
We don't know very much, but certainly we keep being linked with players, and our scouts seem to be scouting players that we would like to see join us. We even had offers in for Jones and Mata. We clearly wanted Fabregas and Nasri to stay. Looking at Man Utd and Chelsea, who have more money than us, and they would like to bring in a few quality players too, but can't find anyone either. Unfortunately, the way things are, those two are still going to get first refusal, even if we find someone we can afford.
Seasons not over, Sagna and Wilshere come back soon. We can still make top four and have a decent run in Europe. Fans need to support the team, all this negativity cant help results. If we dont make the top four at the end of the Season then we re-assess things but until then the 'fans' need to get a grip and show their support for the team.
Andrey Arshavin is the footballer of the year, Sergey Bezrukov – actor of the year, Boris Akunin and Darya Dontsova – writers of the year, Philipp Kirkorov – musician of the year for the second time. The Pust Govoryat (Let them Talk) show became the best show for the third time. The poll was held on December 24-25, 2011. Some 1600 people from 138 urban areas in 46 regions, territories and republics of Russia were questioned. Four of them said they had seen Arshavin play once - 4 years ago. The others had all heard of him but admitted to having some Christmas vodka.
How many people were polled in that petty fans questionnaire you and Piskies punch bag (jamrag) like to quote from when slagging off our club?
Some AST thing that gets brought up to prove the fans hate Wenger, the board, the team etc. About 20 people were polled I think lol At least 1600 Russkis had a say on Arshavin, god of world footy http://news.arseblog.com/2011/07/ast-poll-reveals-unsurprising-supporter-disillusion/ actually 850 polled - about 50% of the number used to elect Arshavin a mega star
I've NEVER quoted from a poll. I might have invented a little from your excellent earlier post, though.
