Hi Guys. Greetings from a fan of Southampton FC. Before I start I just wanted to say I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Rangers, always were my favoured team in Scotland throughout my life! Also is aweful to see whats happened to your club, something simular (but not as bad admitedly!) happened to my club, Southampton, recently. Best of luck in getting through this and hopefully you come back stronger from it just like we did! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19924802 I just came across this article on the BBC sport website and was wondering what you guys think about what your Chief Exec is saying? Personally I find it quite a laughable and disrespectful statement. We are currently having a bit of a discussion about it on the Saints board (that you guys are all more than welcome to join in with!) but I just wanted to get an idea of what the Rangers fans think about this guy and what he's saying? Cheers and best of luck! CIOL
Why? Green's just started swiping out at other clubs instead of everyone in Scotland (decisions driven by bigotry etc etc). I think you've misunderstood this - go and read the Southampton board thread. This guy has always had a soft spot for Rangers and now your owner has had a totally wild pop at Southampton (among others). To the OP, I think a lot of Rangers fans like this sort of statement - he's released loads of them since taking over and it's gotten people onside with him. A few of them don't and see Charlie's grandstanding for what it is.
I don't agree with everything he said bib. However I do agree with him in the sense that a european league is needed and not just for our benefit. I've liked the idea since it was floated years ago. As for the beel wait till we get to page 2
True This isn't a good move by Green, though - he can slag people in Scotland who won't go to Ibrox all he likes and it won't harm Rangers. Any Southampton or West Ham fan that might've bought a Rangers shirt or travelled up for a game at Ibrox has just possibly been put off by this, though.
Thanks for some of the responses. So is this guy actually quite well liked for saying things like this? Sounds like theres a bigger issue that this is just part of? As for the European league thing it sounds like a very odd system in terms of how it would actually run. Has there been any more information on it yet? And without wishing to stir the pot surely Rangers would have no hope of getting into this league? At least not currently. You would have to get back to the top league and win it or go on a good champions league run to even be considered wouldn't you? And yeh theres no way that I'll be putting any money into Rangers if this is the sort of guy thats in charge...
If he keeps on making me laugh, I will agree with everything he says, bar nothing, just the way I roll.
He's a silly bugger. This bit is unbelievable given what Rangers have done. Believe it or not, the guy has repeated the phrase "making friends on the way up" a few times - a phrase he borrowed from a proper, proper banger.
I doubt it. People have 2nd teams. When we go over for games we have a drink with a load of lads who travel up from Norwich. I'm 100% sure that if Green were to have a swipe at Norwich then they would throw the towel in. I do. he is a gent and tells it how it is. ICWT
The guys a clown but a good businessman - he's saying all the right things to get Rangers fans on his side! In todays Sun, he says ... Everyone knows this is pish/false! But will it gets the support from the fans - of course it will.
