Probably not, but I fear Joe has Shota himself in the foot captain-wise.

Nice to see the England Women doing well, reached 293 in their 50 overs against SA, Wyatt got 123. So after losing the toss and being put in to bat, they have put up a decent total for SA to chase.

Bowled them out for 156, it's really interesting how often, not only in Cricket but Football as well, how the team that starts slowly, ends up getting to the final and often wins it. They lost the first 3 matches, but then slowly got better.

Didn't Aus do that last year? One-day World Cup?

Exactly, it would be a real boost if we can beat the Aussies in this final.

Women's final v Aus 2am tomorrow, being shown free-to-air on various Sky channels. If it weren't for the 2am start I'd be watching!

I'll set my alarm for about 6 for the second innings to hopefully see the girls bring it home (again)

Our women got well done over by Aus. Should we have batted first? Probably. If we'd taken those 2 catches? Who knows. Either way I bet Nat Sciver'll never again score 148 no and be on the losing side!

I certainly don't understand why they put them in to bat first, score board pressure is often needed in these games.

Great achievement getting to the final again, but Australia women are a class act with some exceptional talent. We gave it a good go in the end but we were never realistically going to win after the total Aus posted.

    Probably necessary.

He's been keeping a sinking ship afloat for too long now.

Not sure where we go next though.

Problem is that he’s the only player in the squad who is guaranteed a place in the team based on performances. Whoever steps up needs to step up with their performances too. I can see a period like we had in the late 80s when we were switching captains regularly because the on in place got dropped from the squad.

I think Root needed to go, his captaincy has been questionable at times. I personally think in Cricket the captain is much more important than in many other sports. So I feel maybe you look around the country championship and see if there is a good captain there, as not always the best players make good leaders?

Just announcing Stokes as the new skipper. really don’t think this is a good idea for the lad.

That happened quickly, shoe-in maybe? Not sure it's the right choice either, personal issues aside he's not always fit.

Look at the way the press, well the scum, went for him early in his career.
Since then he’s been off with MH problems.

    i think it’s a bad idea.

I'm just in the middle of the Gazza documentary on the BBC, refections of a similar situation.
