Jack Grealish's 'worldie' winner was great not just for winning the game but in its execution too. He did not just blast the falling ball, but waited for it to drop and then volleyed it in from the perfect position. Well Done, Jack. After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 82 to 83 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is still 88 points, with 12 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 4th in the table, with 76 points and GD at +26 from 42 games.

EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 28/04/2018 : Aston Villa 1-1 Derby County I enjoyed being at the game today but was not impressed by the style of play ... I think the best description is ponderous. Nevertheless the team has cohesion and the best performers in my book were Hutton, Grealish and Snodgrass, with John Terry and Chester keeping order at the back and Johnstone alert in goal. Hutton replaced Taylor, who had gifted Derby their opening goal and Grabban scored our equaliser in a goalmouth scramble late in the 2nd half. AVFC's mathematical chance of 2nd place went with this result, we cannot catch Fulham and Cardiff, who now have 88 and 89 points respectively. On the positive side AVFC is in the play-offs and we have won 5 (out of 10) doubles and conceded no doubles at all this Season. A decent touch at half-time was a tribute to the deceased, which included Nigel Sims, Alan Deakin, Cyrille Regis, Ray Wilkins and several ordinary fans, Holte Enders in the Sky. After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 86 to 85 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is now 86 points, with 3 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 4th in the table, with 83 points and GD at +31 from 45 games. Attendance : 41,745 (AVFC)
