    Previous meetings;
    Surprised to see we are actually winning in the 'games won' stat:
    v Aston Villa
    Games won: 25
    Games drawn: 13
    Games lost: 21

    Ones to remember;
    05 Sep 1967 Queens Park Rangers v Aston Villa W 3-0 League Division Two
    23 Sep 1989 Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers W 1-3 League Division One
    13 Mar 2018 Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers W 1-3 League Championship

    Ones to forget;
    22 Feb 1977 Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers L 3-0 League Cup
    27 Apr 1985 Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers L 5-2 League Division One
    14 Aug 1993 Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers L 4-1 Premier League

    Jimmy Stephenson;

    1913–1921 Aston Villa 31 (2)
    1927–1928 Queens Park Rangers 18 (0)

    2000–2001 Queens Park Rangers 42 (10)

    2009–2010 Queens Park Rangers 44 (3)

    Travel;
    1 h 59 min (120.2 mi) via M40
    2 h 37 min on the underground from Shepherds Bush Market to Euston Square then Virgin Train from Euston to Birmingham New Street. Local train from there to Aston, then a 15 minute walk.
    10 h 39 min (128.5 mi) via National Cycle Rte 6

    QUEENS PARK RANGERS first mission of 2019 is to try and still be ahead of our opponents come 5:00 pm on Tuesday evening.

    The R’s are one place and one point in front of Aston Villa in the league as both teams are situated just outside the play-off positions.

    QPR began 2018 with a victory over Cardiff City and will be hoping for the same tomorrow afternoon, although come across a Villa side on the march.

    The West Midlands outfit had a slow start to the season, which resulted in the departure of former manager Steve Bruce.

    Lifelong Villa fan Dean Smith took over from Brentford and has so far done a fine job, although he will be well aware that reaching the playoffs will be the minimum that’s expected from a demanding Aston Villa fanbase.

    In truth, Villa are a Premier League outfit, with a wonderful stadium and decorated history but they have not enjoyed the best of times during the last three years.

    However, Smith seems to have reunited the fans and their passion for the club and his attractive style of football has already caught the eye this season.

    But QPR will be going into this one with confidence, having beaten the Villains in both recent fixtures and enjoying a better Head to Head record. With both teams competing so high up the table it should be a high-quality game to kick-start the new year.

    Still thinking of going? I doubt I will, the misery of parking within walking distance and my certainty that they won’t be selling tickets for the away section on the gate, despite the claims (no way am I sitting with Villa fans, amongst the most ignorant on earth), plus likely hangover, are weighing against. Reckon I need to make a call by noon tomorrow.

    Cheers Dave.

    Nah will watch it on the box and loathe from afar. Saving it for Sheff U or Wigan.

    Did look at the trains on Faresplitter earlier and it came to £20 cheaper than buying through National Rail if anyone is considering it.

    Still gutted that I won't be back to go but hopefully the Sky red button will work.... Saying that I noticed when we played Ipswich they left off 2-3 games. I hope they don't do that to us against Villa? <yikes>

    Looking forward to not looking over our shoulders towards relegation.
    I don't think we'll be in the play offs but more than happy to be proved wrong.
    As you say, let's get another away win today!

    On my way..
    Am going to suggest one change in team today.
    Chair in for Eze
    Chair is an attacking midfielder, Eze is an attacker.

    Chair offers more defensively, with a certain amount of attacking prowess. Eze off the bench if we are chasing the game

    My interpretation of Steeeves press conference..."we will have to defend for our lives"

    To have any chance today, central midfield have to perform a lot better than the Reading game imo. Be interesting to see how McClaren addresses this.

    PS just read Beth's post. Agree, Chair deserves a start.

    Scowen and a traffic cone would be a step in the right direction.

    Do you think Chair could do a better job there than Cousins, Manning or traffic cone? From what I remember of him last season, Chair could pick a pass nicely, got stuck in to his tackles and should have toughened up since then. Seemed quite aware of what was going on around him too.

    Big risk for a tough game like this against two wily midfielders IMO. Would rather Manning but I’d happily take a chance on Chair over Cousins.

    Would be very surprised if it’s not Cousins though but expecting a surprise or two elsewhere. BOS for Wzolek.

    I think we need Pawel if he's fit for his running up and down, defensive ability as well as offensive, and his recent goals. If BOS gets a start I think it would be for Eze with Freeman taking the 10 role, or Cousins with Freeman joining Scowen in the midfield 2. Not sure BOS is good enough defensively, and Villa is not the place to find out.
