I've really enjoyed this avatar thing. I didn't think I would, but I have. From 1960s logos, various hornet pictures, flags, modes of transport, the (with apologies ) strange wanderings of wear_yellow's mind, to my current favourite, Golden Gordon's Hornetised Ripping Yarn pic. I've sent a few messages to people about ones I've liked, and a few interesting conversations have begun. I thought it might be interesting to open it up a bit. Mine's pretty simple, it's my favourite photo of Sir Luther - it seems to capture, for me, his inspirational nature, his integrity. How would you explain yours and which others do you like and why?
I love Hornette's avatar, too, should've said. But that whole tightly clad female super-hero has embarrassing effects that wouldn't impress Mrs SLB... Actually I should enlarge on that... Erm, I'm going to finish this post before I get into real trouble .
lol...i can't even claim credit for it, it was a gift from Northolt . But i definitely agree, i love a lot of them, though some on other boards aren't quite so entertaining! lol
Glad you liked mine and got the reference. Turned out better than I hoped. Also looking at clips on Youtube I got the sig about the shorts. SLB and I have been remembering how good this is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGzcH5Nfd6w I like the cartoons, Hornette and Sandy, and now after SLB's wink, would love to know: what is it about Stalin, Wear Yellow?
GG, do I need to start a thread on 'signatures' Goodbye shorts, hello football . Great clip, haven't seen it for a few years .
When they were originally broadcast, there was no laughter track. If you buy the DVD, which I got for about a fiver, you can watch with or without. IMHO, it's better without. I only know how it was originally broadcast because I recorded it with my cassette recorder pressed close to the speaker on its first broadcast in the 1970s. I used to listen to that tape incessantly. Great stuff. David Leland is fantastic in his delivery of that speech. The bloke crying was a sergeant in Juliet Bravo. Bill Fraser is hilarious as the scrap merchant, and Roger (somebody) is fabulous as the returning hero. Must watch it again, it's great.
