Bad news for the area, hope nobody on here's losing their job... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41566841
My brothers worked there for over 30 years. Reckons it will not be as bad as reported, and the Qatar order should hopefully land sooner than expected. Also the redundancy packages are extremely generous, worst case scenario
With all the armed services cuts. I hope to god no one kicks off. We'd struggle to contain the massed ranks of the Isle of Wight, and Jersey..
Yes I know a few that have taken redundancy and moved on or retired. Kid I used to go in pub with took £100,000 in redundancy and pension lump some with £300 per week to boot. Their skills will be in demand so most end up better off.
Crap for anyone to be made redundant at least the brough lads have a good pay off coming to them. It's the young lads I feel sorry for who have only just started their career.
nice for those reaching retiring age.. Not great for those who still have some way to go...Still if managed correctly £100k can go a long way..
Yes I agree but with their skills it will be a lot more chance to secure good employment. I'm sure the younger ones will be in a decent position seeing as there is a big shortage of engineering etc apprenticeship take ups.
