Great photo. Think I had that up on my bedroom wall. I was just a youngster in 72 (9 years old) which is the age I think a lot of kids pick their team for life. I guess without glory hunters, a team will never get lot's of new followers. Hopefully, a season or 2 in the EPL will generate many more.
I only descoverd 606 when we were in L1 but always read all the posts with interest, when it came not606 i thought bugger it and signed up! Its the only way i get to talk about footie at work as i unfortionately work with all girls who are in love with vampire man robert pattinson or who ever the hell it is!! Im no glory hunter, I can recall watching my first game v liverpool my school had a game on at half time, i can remember gunn getting sent off i think but no idea of the date!!! 1990's some time!! My dad only ever gave me two choices in football, Norwich or the canaries!!
I guess that's why we have such a big Scaninavian following! When we were playing well in the 80s/90s I can always remember the advertising hoardings being written in Swedish or Norwegian when our games were regularly shown live over there!
My missus is currently carrying our first child and hopefully will make it full term this time - She is going through a really rough time at the moment but hopefully everything will be ok and then I will be indoctrinating yet another to the yellow and green massive!
Its against my religion to fight. I'm a Devout Coward! Mind you, I might fancy my chances against a glory hunter. But not a gorey one.
Cheers guys - We have had the 20 week scan and know that it's a boy. (Not that it would have mattered as they were going to get dragged along to the games regardless!) Trouble is there is no agreement on name yet. The missus just isn't feeling the love for our boy to be called Grant!
I keep slipping in the odd first team name but even she knows enough about things to veto any such suggestions! However, I will try adding Mad to Marc in a bid to sway her mindset - It has a nice ring to it!
Her standing joke is, 'Where is he? Oh no he's gone missing again' whenever Hoolahoops name is mentioned after she was enforced to listen to many an away game in the recent past on Radio Norfolk. So that's Wes out of the running too!
I was on 606 with the same name but, as someone else said , I do lose a lot of interest and stop posting when we get into a spate of childish playground name calling as with Colchester on 606 and, recently, Leeds on here. Harking back to a couple of discussions that took place a few weeks ago I am sure that is Neil O'Donnell on the end at the left and Geoff Butler with the lip covering on the front row. Just shows how memories play tricks - I would have sworn that Ron Saunders was a lot taller than that!!
I was on 606 as SheffieldCanary. I put my weight behind 12 yards when it closed, but that may as well be a west midlands club site. Shame as it was a user friendly interface. I post occasionally but quickly get tired of the tit for tat point scoring. Some football fans really are a disgrace!
