If there is no blue cheese sauce available then I'm quite partial to a steak au poivre <cheers>

My oath, how dull can you get. We're not using ration books any longer -
(though you make it sound like you still are?). What about all the influences
of Mediterranean cooking from when people go abroad on holiday, what's wrong
with incorporating some of those to liven up that typical English blandness? :emoticon-0112-wonde
(Substitute parsnips and sprouts for peas and carrots and I'll take the roast anytime <ok>)

It was sort of tongue in cheek, what really pisses me off is when they paint about five different sauces on a plate, add three peas and a carrot julienne and call it lunch <grr>

What's wrong with a lasagne, chilli con carne??
Better still roast pork - though I don't get some restaurants dishing up a lump of roast belly pork approx 5cm cubed, adding a dollop of mash with a smattering of veg and charge you approx £12 for the privilege.

Whilst I'm on my 'high horse' - WHY des nearly every restaurant only give you a smattering of veg??? I know a lot of people don't eat much veg, but for the price of it!!! :emoticon-0121-angry

I love a beef lasagne, but chill con carne is too spicy for me, I have a delicate stomach that reacts to spicy food though I can manage a Madras with mushroom rice <cheers>

Nothing wrong with tomato ketchup and gravy (thick) to add a touch of flavour and class to anything :)

It's Galton Blackiston, of Morston Hall fame.
Mind you, you won't even get the cheeseboard there for £12.45 <yikes>
