was it really six weeks ago since we signed him? Jesus. He had an injury leading in to the Southend game, think it was a calf, so that possibly put him back 7-10 days.
could the reeves not being included be part of gobbos plan/tactics to try and sign josh wright (who was at the game saturday). he did this with reeves - had him in the stands, at the training ground till meire gave in. by not picking him and allowing us to be thrashed, and showing how shallow our squad is, it could force meire into forking out for wright. my only problem with this is that games are ticking by. in 2011/2012 every game seemed to matter and the points total at the end of the season proved as such. if he's restricting us and reducing the amount of points we can seriously win then i'll be majorly f'd off.
Interesting stat on Reeves - he averages less than 30 games a season through injury. Another sick note ? Robinson obviously wanted him, but with only one striking option, should the money have been spent on a second striker instead ?
Surely enough players were released to pay for Reeves, and losing Ajose, Novak, & Watt should've insured at least one good striker coming in.
Novak and Watt were both said to be on 8k a week at Charlton. It is safe to assume that Crofts was not far off that, too. Therefore the Belgian Bullshitters shaved around £1,000,000 off the wage bill last month. Dodoo [looks poor] has come in, but what % of his wages are Rangers picking up? The "Top 6" budget morphed into a "competitive budget", but is in reality a "Walter Mitty budget".
As I was walking up to Priestfield yesterday I saw Reeves parking up in his BMW. Hopefully that didn't damage his scar tissue. Robinson does seem to have a weakness for signing favourites even when they are not fit - Forster-Caskey also took ages to get going for us and then gave an interview specifically denying he was a Gobbo favourite. When they look back at this unfortunate era in Charlton's history, future generations of Charlton fans will marvel at our obsession with signing and then paying unfit, sicknote footballers.
By signing the unfit players the pricks can say they brought the best out of the players........................
Robinson really is so full of ****. If Reeves didn't have a pre season over the summer as he now claims "six weeks behind the rest of the squad" - why did Robinson play him at Exeter ?
At his press conference earlier today Robinson said that Reeves will play a part in the “next 2/3 games”, but isn’t fit enough to start a game yet.
At his press conference after the Southend game Robinson said that the Wigan and Gillingham games would be too soon for Reeves but he should play some part in the Bury game..... I was wrong, Robinson is not a one trick pony but a two trick pony!..
20 - 30 games might be the best we get from him. He settled for a 2 year contract, so if we don't get promoted this season, that puts him in prime positron for a transfer.
That's true of quite a few in our squad. Can anybody imagine Holmes or Magennis hanging around for a third season in League One? Does anybody believe that Charlton will have a stronger squad than we do now by August next year if we don't get promoted this season? Not under this owner.
Ben Reeves once again not even on the bench today. I though Gobbo said in the week he would feature in the next 2/3 games ? Taking the p1ss signing unfit players.
I read elsewhere than Ben Reeves started a pre season with MKD, but then broke it off when other clubs became interested. Rank unprofessionalism if true. It still begs the question of why we signed a player that we still cannot use nearly 20% into the league season. His career appearances in the last 5 years [remember he is only 25...] 10 28 30 18 30 "Mr Robust" he ain't...
MK invited him to watch their first pre season game and if he wished, to train with them. They then couldn’t negotiate a deal and he moved on. Nothing unusual with that.
