Luton win the play off final on penalties and Kenilworth Road will host premier league games next season!
I hope the Lunatic Fringe drop the purple & yellow colour scheme, Luton fans might think a UKIP rally is headed their way...
Apart from the reintroduction of grass on the pitch I'm sure the ground has not changed since the last time I saw Spurs play there in the old 1st division The last make over the place had was when Millwall helped out that night
1. Obviously onside (WTF do they need so long to check that) . 2. Great, 90 mins of Spurs sitting in their final third.
Jeff Stelling signs off for the last time, despite being Sky he was a constant pleasure to watch , good luck in your retirement
I was thinking of posting something about him. He certainly had a knack for making a show which just reported the latest scores very entertaining. He became a bit of a caricature in the end, but was still worth watching. His performance in a fast moving, high pressure, live broadcast was flawless. Not sure they will find anyone half as good to replace him. In the montage Sky put together for him, there was a very touching moment when he spoke to the son of Adam Stansfield. He always referenced his father’s goals by reference to the unrelated ‘80s pop star Lisa Stansfield, with the ubiquitous quip “Lisa will be proud”. Stansfield’s son followed suit and became a pro footballer - sadly his dad died of cancer, aged just 31. Any future Stansfield goal would be met with the line “his dad would have been very proud”. Not a dry eye…
Sheff Wed win in stoppage time in extra time to get promoted, deserved over the season. 3 great play off finals
They are a big club and should be in the PL. They got promoted the impossibly hard way - 96 points not enough for automatic promotion and 0-4 down in the play-off semis- but their fans will be enjoying it now. Great to look back on, but hard to live through
Its a wonderful way to win promotion, but a terrible match to lose particularly in the manner that Barnsley lost, but there are a lot of late goals in play off finals. In the 3 that I have been two, I saw Man City score twice in stoppage (when Halsey invoked the play until City score rule), I saw Gillingham beat Wigan with 2 in the last 8 mins of extra time and beat Shrewsbury with a 90th minute winner.
