  5. What’s the point of having a Watchdog for the Media if they permit such nauseating content on our screens before the watershed!

I’ve just been subjected to an advert showing Oxlade-Chamberlain shaving his body hair!! Joe Hart ridding himself of dandruff is one thing. James Feckin’ Milner in the shower was barely acceptable only as a Tyrannosaurus subsequently killed him by treading on his sports car. But this - REALLY!!!!! <yikes>

Mousers must be so proud of their precious lads!
(OS - you may need to seek counseling!)

Mascot? It was part of a dominant centre back pairing alongside a triceratops!

One of those sleepless tinnitus nights. However, I found this...

I don't think that I've seen this footage before and this is the first time that I've seen these goals in 43 years. One of those amazing nights. It's probably in my top 20 nights at The Lane. The night that Alfie Conn sat on the ball, although that moment's not on the footage, more's the pity.

Leeds were just about to play [and lose] in the European Cup Final against Bayern Munich, as a result of the 2 points we got from this win, we just stayed up, by a point from Luton Town and Chelsea. Derby won the title, Ipswich were third and Stoke, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough occupied 5th, 6th and 7th.

Just look at that crowd going crazy. Not surprising really. We won 5 of our last 7, having won 1 of the previous 14 [W-1; D-3; L-10].

Whooops. Sorry, I missed that. Had you seen that footage in the intervening years?

Prior to the last 7 games, we'd won 7 out of 35. What a terrible season, although we did beat the Goons, Chelsea, the champions - Derby and Leeds. the other bizarre result was our 5 - 2 win at Newcastle. It was early January and must have been really ****ty weather, as I was indoors and watching Grandstand and remember the goals and scorer being flashed up on screen, as they went in. If we hadn't won that game, we'd have gone a third of the season winless. As it was, we went and lost 8 of the next 9, only managing a draw with Coventry away.

How the **** did we stay up? A true miracle.

  12. It was a feckin’ miracle - and it says something about the strange nature of sport fanaticism that in many cases we have more vivid memories of these traumatic days than more positive games etc.

I started looking for clips of my fav games on YouTube a couple of years back, when a lot of old Big Match and MOTD archive stuff started getting digitised. Incredible how the memories of these games remain so accurate and vivid - like the Allie Conn ball-sittting moment or the joy of seeing Cyril’s freekick hit the back of the net. I don’t remember what the missus has said to me 5 minutes ago <laugh>

I can't wait to hear the referee ask why he's watching footage of a Tory minister pocketing tens of thousands of pounds...

Might need to postpone the start of next season by a couple of weeks then.

It's a shame the Ukraine didn't qualify, just to see if Putin has them VAR their national anthem six or seven times until they just give up trying to sing it...
