Bill Nich and Jose share the same birthday. I want to believe there’s a good omen in there somewhere.
Would now be a bad moment to mention that our current manager also shares a birthday with Nicolae Ceausescu?
I think Bill Nick lost it after the fans of both sides "lost it" in that UEFA Cup Final in Holland. He was disgusted and retired as a manager. Thank heavens he returned in a "scouting" capacity. In fact he took in a non league game which produced Graham Roberts...…...
This lovely little film is part of the reason why Tottenham Hotspur has been the fabric of my life. Bills wonderful record, and I was there for all of it. Brings back memories of my Dad, my mates, my boyfriend, my husband and so many happy times. I long for you younger fans to see a good run with some trophys. It sure helps to have good memories in the bank when the lean times roll round again. COYS
Probably not the right time to say this, and of course the deaths are very sad - especially Bryant's daughter may I say, as the death of someone so young is always tragic, but I have to say I do not get the appeal of Basketball. Up down without variety or subtlety, a game only for giants. OK the guy that plonks the ball into the basket with a variety of styles has something going for him, but otherwise it is tedious beyond measure. The other US games are interesting apart from the huge gaps in action, but I see nothing appealing about Basketball at all.
Still not as embarrassing as showing pictures of Ainsley Harriott in a story about an honour for Lenny Henry. The basketball players have a lower profile in this country, Henry and Harriott are on our screens all the bloody time (or were once).
When it's a white person, the "mistakes" look uncannily like doctoring footage so that they don't seem politically or socially inept
They can't help it. The BBC think all USA basketball players look alike! When I was at school, the boys weren't allowed to play "netball".Girls only. Then again, the girls played rounders (baseball)..Boys had their football and cricket, unless one was a grammar school throwback, then you got your rugger for a jolly good time and some facial changes...…..
And yet, even as he was falling out of love with the game and the Spurs squad was in the slow decline that would lead to relegation, he still won silverware for the club. "Thank heavens he returned in a "scouting" capacity. In fact he took in a non league game which produced Graham Roberts." And scouted some diabetic lad called Garry Mabbutt (wonder what became of him) . Arguably the clubs' three greatest captains, all under or due to St Nicholson (I would have near killed to have had one of their like in a Pochettino team) .
Let's not forget Top Of The Pops showing pictures of Jockey Wilson while Dexy's played "Jackie Wilson said "
Not true "For a laugh, we told the producer to put a picture of Jocky Wilson up behind us," he told the Guardian in 2002. "He said: 'But Kevin, people will think we made a mistake.' I told him only an idiot would think that. The morning after, the DJ Mike Read said: 'Bloody Top of the Pops. How could they mix up one of the great soul singers with a Scottish darts player?'"
