Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - St Andrews Date - 6 November 2022 Kick off - 19:45 Following their hard fought 2-2 home draw with Wigan, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a tricky looking match away to Birmingham. On Saturday afternoon, the Swans fought back from 2-0 down to claim a point and deny struggling Wigan Athletic a much-needed victory. Leam Richardson's side halted a five-game losing streak, but will have been frustrated not to have taken all three points having stunned the Swans in the early stages. The Latics took control of the contest thanks to early headers from Will Keane and Tom Naylor. But Ryan Manning's cool finish gave the Swans hope just before half-time and they salvaged a draw thanks to Joel Piroe's late penalty. The Swans dropped to ninth despite the fightback, while Wigan remained in the relegation zone. Whilst the Swans were drawing against Wigan, goals from Scott Hogan and Harlee Dean were enough to see Birmingham City pick up all three points from their visit to Stoke City. The Blues took the lead in the 13th minute when Hogan pounced on a mistake by Phil Jagielka before rolling the ball past Josef Bursik in the Stoke goal. The lead was doubled against the run of play in the 67th minute when Dean headed in at the back post from Hannibal Mejbri's corner. Lewis Baker pulled a goal back from the penalty spot for the Potters after Liam Delap was brought down by Auston Trusty, but Stoke were unable to find an equaliser. As a result, the Blues moved up to 11th spot, 2 places and 2 points below the Swans. The Swans have played Birmingham on 41 previous occasions, winning just 10, losing 20 with 11 matches drawn. In the corresponding fixture last season, the Blues ran out deserved 2-1 winners: Turning to Tuesday evening, the Swans will be eager to get back to winning ways having taken just 2 points from the last 3 games, whilst the Blues will want to extend their 3 match unbeaten run. I think that Birmingham will repeat last season’s win with another 2-1 victory over the Swans. Hope I’m wrong
Safe journey to all that are travelling in this weather. Let us hope the team put on a good show for you.
As if things couldn’t get any worse …. Couldn’t wait to give Blackpool a (very soft/never a) penalty and the guy who Cooper complained about ….
Ntcham starting so I won’t pay to watch. Another pedestrian start and chasing game when we are behind, no thanks
