We’re that was a boring game. Can we rest Lowe again and put Whittaker in the side next game oh and please put Bennett back in to govern the defence.

I hope Blackburn have more luck on Friday night :emoticon-0100-smile

Although not much of a break between games for them and Brentford have had a decent rest period

There doesn’t seem to be any enthusiasm in the players and there is very little football whatsoever...what has happened to the free flowing stuff that clueless had us playing?

Draw away and win at home and we go up. We are just not playing well at the moment and in doing so have taken 7 from 9. Didn’t see the pen was it the right decision. We need to stop relying on pens to get us points

We are terrible at the moment. We are playing games of late, where in the most, we’re devoid of any appreciable football. I know there are a lot of games, with a midweek game every week & tiredness can come into it. But it’s like we cross that white line with no tactical nouse of how we’re going to approach the game or how to take it to the opposition. Our passing is shocking, no composure on the ball & regularly lose possession due to hurried wasteful passes. I might be in the minority here, but in my mind it’s definitely got worse since we recruited Hourihane too. The guy can strike both a moving & dead ball, with a return regularity that some players will never achieve. But as part of our midfield 3, creative wise from open play, I think he rarely offers anything. There was a big difference when he came on last Wednesday, as a substitute. However, over a full 90, I struggle to see what he generally contributes. I know we haven’t always been banging in the goals this season & outplaying teams with a swagger. Under Cooper & with our limited transfer investment, we’re not that kind of team. But we’ve still played some really good football at times & have won deservedly. Now football-wise we're a shadow of that & it’s looking for the remainder of the season, this is the kind of game we’ll have to come accustomed to. I’m not trying to be down on our team, as we’ve had the season I’ve not expected at all, but I really don’t know what Cooper & is coaching team are instructing our team to do at the moment. If it’s just to be ugly, well we’re doing that well...

I feel the same - our best midfield three consists of Grimes, Fulton and Smith.

Hourihane would suit a 4-4-2 system rather than our 3-5-2

You could be possibly right there Taff. Only other formation alternative I was toying with, being the Swans, was 4-2-3-1. With him being the sort of number 10. But I’m not convinced firstly, that he would have the natural creativity for us to exploit it & secondly, if he did, we would surely need the wingers to fully gain an advantage playing that way??..

Agreed WSAF - I was thinking of how we are missing wing play, pace and width when I was watching the match <cheers>

I agree with the Hourihane points. He is a talented player and certainly has a great strike but he doesn't fit our style of play. I think we would have been much better off with Morgan Gibbs-White in the side as he was much better at inking up with the top two. Shame Wolves recalled him!
