Match Preview; We played, and lost 0-1, to Blackpool in the fourth game of the season thanks to a goal from Josh Bowler, who has 3 in total this season. Their top scorer is Jerry Yates, with 10 goals, and given the second name on that list is Gary Madine on 4 goals, it is clear where their main threat lies. Their poor run of form this year, winning just 1 game so far in 2023, losing 6 and drawing 4. This run sees them sit 22nd on 32 points, 6 points from safety. They were promoted back into the Championship in 2021, under Neil Critchley, who led them to a safe 16th place finish, and then left in June 2022 to join Villa as assistant manager. Having managed Blackpool for 11 games in 2012/13, Michael Appleton was re-appointed as their manager, but he was sacked in January 2023 with Blackpool sitting 23rd, with 1 win in 11 games. Mick McCArthy replaced him, and has won just 1 of his 10 games so far. As for us, we won! In fact, not only did we win, but we deserved to win, and not only did we deserve it, but we fought hard, showed some character and frustrated Watford. Really good win, and very comforting to get the three points on the board. It was so good to see Dykes back, and hoping he'll get back into his groove and start scoring a few before seasons end. Tuesday night will be a different type of game, a midweek game in the north of England, against a team scrapping in a relegation battle, desperate for points as soon as possible. Should be an interesting game, but not sure we'll see much free flowing football. Team News QPR: Leon Balogun, Ilias Chair, Ethan Laird, Kenneth Paal and Chris Willock are all close to returning from injury. Blackpool: Shayne Lavery is unavailable through injury, while Gary Madine is a doubt after he was also forced off injured in Blackpool's last outing at Bristol City. Pre-match Talk Gareth Ainsworth (QPR head coach): "It will be a battle, a different type of game, for sure. But we go into the game following a big result. "Mick McCarthy left me a message when I got the QPR job - he's a top man and a top manager, as well. He'll have Blackpool fighting and scrapping and we're going to have to be at our best again." Mick McCarthy (Blackpool head coach): "They've (QPR) become the second-most aggressive team in terms of closing down and pressing, so quite clearly Gareth has put his personality into that squad already. "They played against Watford on Saturday and played 3-5-2 - they were excellent against a really good Watford side. They won 1-0 and deserved to win, there were no arguments about that. "Right before we play them he's just got a tune out of them, so it's going to be a tough game but we've been doing alright at home. We've not been winning everything but we've had good performances and been hard to beat." If you are making the trip, enjoy, and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
This is gonna be a horrible game, a point would be very welcoming and keep the status quo between us and them !
I’m sure there’s another bloke that’s managed both sides in recent years, but I can’t think of his name.
If we put in the same effort as Saturday, we should come away with at least a point but hopefully catch them off guard for three points.
Can't get too excited after 3pts on sat. Watford were all over the place and didn't react to our tactics. I could see Blackpool being better organised for how we set up. Was planning on going but Blackpool on a cold Tuesday evening isn't all that appealing.
It was proven that I'm not a true fan as I had not skipped major surgery on the day of my marriage to attend a game.
Mick McCarthy's teams aren't pretty to watch but usually well organised and physical. They'll probably try to do to us what we did to Watford so expect a tough tight match...
The game seems to be showing on Sky Sports App, no mention of red button. I don't know whether Sky Go will work in place of the app.
