Seems they are closing for a week, you can still book rooms for Tues next week onwards. Also owned at present by Ken Anderson so suggests the staff also there have not been paid and are therefore flexing their muscles
Well it draws attention to the issue if nothing else , hard to tell if you are serious about this or straying into mr bob territory
The current owners should pay And it’s about more than just the first team players. They are the leverage, and good on them
You would think that all it would need is for there to be an agreement that matchday income is used for salaries before other creditors, assuming the income was sufficient. If the income is going to pay other companies fitst, then striking seems the right response. Salaries should be priority payments.
I've not read the full thread, so sorry if this has been addressed but, given like most clubs, they'll have had a lot of money in to the club, where has it gone? If it turns out the lion's share went to players and agents, it does seem to weaken their position.
I'm with Ben, I can't see how that weakens their position. If the club agrees to a deal with players, then it is their responsibility to honour that. If the owners have miscalculated and are paying out a total of more wages than they can afford, that is hardly the player's fault.
Absolutely. A contract is a contract. Think of some of the ****e ones we've doled out over the years that we've still honoured. Bullard for one. Didn't Sonko take home an extraordinary wage for doing the sum total of **** all? The point is, at some point everyone sat down and agreed a price, at every level of the club, from playing staff to tea lady. The only thing left to do is strike and there's not really much more to say.
Today is D Day, either the Bassini deal is accepted by the EFL and he demonstrates proof of funds, or Ken Anderson and Bolton are back to square one with a High Court battle looming next week aimed at liquidating Burnden Leisure Ltd, the owner of the club and the adjoining hotel! If it goes down the tubes, bad news in general terms for football. Bolton Phoenix though potentially will have the best stadium in Conference North next year, assuming they are accepted for that level which is questionable!
Totally agree! Then again what constitutes the EFL's fit and proper person test? I suspect the bar is set quite low otherwise the EFL would have surely kicked out his proposed offer to buy Bolton weeks ago. I'm also assuming Anderson had the nous to check with the EFL before engaging in talks with Bassini? Then again Anderson issuing deadline for Monday 5.00pm and then not implementing it does him no favours either!
I'm not saying it is the players fault, but given the excessive salary they get, and the additional payments from the club to the agents the players employ, they have taken a fair whack out of the system. Maybe it's answered earlier on, and I should have read it all, but there it is.
Bolton's final game against Forest will now go ahead, after the PFA loaned them the money to pay the wages. They've got four days after the final game of the season to play the postponed Brentford game. It looks they'll now go into admin and will start next season on -12 points.
Quite possibly liquidation if Bassini doesn't complete his deal given HMRC and other creditors are sitting in the wings. All the players if not paid will walk so asset of value there to speak of. Bassini meeting the EFL at 7.00pm this evening. Unless Anderson has a Plan B up his sleeve, with less than a week to work with (unless the Courts grant yet another reprieve), Bolton are f**ked!
They won't go into liquidation, assuming Bassini keeps fannying around, the administrators will come in and it will be sold to the buyer who's just waiting for admin to get out of as much debt as possible (and this is looking by far the most likely outcome).
You may be right, however no administrator will be interested in being appointed if they are unlikely to get their fees paid, and potentially liabilities at Burnden Leisure Ltd may well be higher in value than the assets, in which case liquidation potentially becomes the only option. Burnden Leisure Ltd currently has 5 charges over it albeit one is in favour of Anderson, the latest accounts are overdue, the football club posted losses of £12.1m in the last reported accounts, and the most likely significant asset being the hotel is losing c£500k pa. I'm not sure a post admin Bolton Wanderers would be worth buying, Mr Kenyon the reported leader of the other consortium may think differently
