    <diva>

    Nabil Bentaleb on the lips of the Magpies faithful following the match.

    Per SofaScore, he put in an industrious showing, recording five tackles, two interceptions, two successful dribbles and a very respectable 89% passing accuracy rate.

    Those stats are decent, but who gives a **** about stats to be honest. I watched the game so don't need them. He played well, was generally good in possession. Some of the interplay and speed of it, between him, Longstaff and Shelvey is exactly the type of **** I want to watch. It was fast, accurate and inventive. Probably some of the best midfield play I've seen in the last 5 seasons or so. Bournemouth helped with that, but to be honest the "Bournemouth are **** excuse" is pathetic and just an excuse to avoid giving Bruce and the players credit. Only one team has bettered that result against them this season.

    I get Bentaleb's been garbage up to now and I certainly wouldn't want to be signing him, but its about being objective and giving credit where its due. **** me Longstaff has been League 1 dogshit all season! But against Bournemouth he rolled it back to his early form for us.

    I had this same discussion about Shelvey with one of my mates. He hates him, thinks he's a tit so refuses to give him any credit. Shelvey I'm not a massive fan, but to be honest he has had a fantastic season under Bruce when fit. His goal record in the league has been virtually 1 in 3. That's a lot from such a deep role.

    I think its quite common, I reckon too many fans judge the player or manager by how much they like them first.

    I understand it but its not an accurate assessment of a performance at all <laugh>

    At least you're honest enough to admit it though <ok>

    I've said he has exceeded my expectations as a manager. In fact I will even say that I think Shelvey has improved as a human being as well <laugh>

    I only supplied the stats because I had said I disagreed with someone that said he's crap and told them he played well..... I'd sign him he can play. looks to pass in tight areas and retains the ball... he would cost **** all..

    He has but there is still a **** in there for me. To be honest I've never been sold on Shelvey as player. I think he's been a bit of a luxury for what he delivered in assists and goals.

    However this season, fair play, he has been very good.
