Can our new Curbs, the ex midfield dynamo & McDonalds pugilist, extend his 100% record on Monday ? I think he will. At last we have a sensible & settled formation on the pitch, with players being allowed to play to their strengths. And off the field the garrulous man-child has gone, and with him that pitiful formation and the weekly deluge of bullsh1t. If anyone sees a midget outside the Valley on Monday buying his programmes, drag him into the Valley. You can get him in on an Under 7 ticket
As I said last week, Elf is the Jeremy Corbyn of football forums --- he lives in a world of boys flying around on broomsticks and joyriding in a Ford Anglia
Donald darling are you reading this? Derailment of the highest order. I was excited to see a thread had started for tomorrow's big game, then discover that the posts 2-6 were taking the urine out of me. It did not help that the op finished with mentioning me. Some people are so childish.
We are still awaiting Don’s match report from Northampton away Northampton away in the 2016/17 season that is ... #LaziestModEver #VoteLardi #OrEvenElf
Sounds as if some Charlton fans are being attracted back to the Valley by the early success of Lee Bowyer. Good luck to all the fans who are getting behind LB and the team, I hope a better atmosphere inside the Valley helps us reach the top 6 and maybe even further. If promotion is achieved against all the odds it will be a historic achievement, and Bowyer will deserve most of the credit. I only hope Duchatelet sells the Club within a few weeks of the Play-off final if we do find ourselves back in the Championship. However I have a horrible feeling he will take his time in an effort to play potential buyers off against each other, and this will lead to a summer of no investment and a nigh-impossible task to remain in the 2nd tier. Hope I am wrong.
It’s hard to escape the feeling that the Aussies are the only serious bidder, but they can’t put the money up. Or at least not the sort of money the Virus wants. It’s also conceivable that the Virus will now hold out until May to see if his asset is suddenly a Championship asset.
Other L1 fixtures today to keep an eye on... Scunthorpe United V Plymouth Argyle Scunthorpe still somehow in 5th place despite no win in 9 games. Plymouth in 6th place. Both teams have 60 points, just 2 more than Charlton. This is a no-lose game from our point of view. I think Plymouth will win and go on to 63 points, but Scunthorpe have drawn 3 of their last 4 games. Peterborough United V Northampton Town This should be a home banker for 7th place Posh, who will go on to 61 points if they win with a GD of somewhere above +12 (fair bit better than us). So if Peterborough do win we cannot overtake them. If Charlton and Peterborough both draw they will also remain above us of course. Basically we need a better result than them to climb above them. Portsmouth V Wigan Athletic At the moment Pompey are only below us on goal difference, but it will require a massive effort from them to beat Wigan. With luck we can open up a points gap on Portsmouth by 5pm today. Fleetwood Town V Bristol Rovers Rovers are 4 points behind us and have played one more game, but if we lose to Plymouth and Rovers beat the Cod Army then that gap is reduced to just a point. Hopefully we won't have to worry about this result too much. Bradford City V Walsall Bradford (like Scunthorpe) have seemingly pressed the self-destruct button on their promotion push. City are 5 points behind us with the same number of games played, but they are in no kind of form. However a win for them and a defeat for us would put them back in the mix, just about. Today I think that Plymouth and Peterborough will both win. If that happens a victory against Rotherham will move us up to 7th place, and only outside the top 6 on goal difference. That would not be a bad day's work at all, and 9 points from 3 games would be a stunning start to Lee Bowyer's managerial career at Charlton. Should Peterborough fail to win and Scunthorpe & Plymouth draw with each other, Charlton could even snatch 6th place today from Plymouth on goal difference if we win at the Valley. All of these outcomes might be a bit much to ask, but it's not impossible.
Strange how other clubs matched our poor results under Robinson, and somehow we stayed in contention, and now that we've started winning under Bowyer so have they. It's still in our own hands though. And I expect another win today to keep up the momentum (no relation).
No reason why Bowyer can’t be our Neil Harris ....IF the new owner is sensible. Millwall are taking 3,000 to Ipswich today and are 3 points off the Premier League Play offs. This is what you get when you give time to a manager who genuinely understands their club and it’s fanbase, as opposed to a opportunistic lard arse who read a book about passion he got out of a packet of cornflakes.
