It's a tough decision to make. I don't think it's needed in the lesser fights but when it gets to world level it is a massive difference maker. The mayer/baumgartner fight being an example, if that was, 10 3mins mayer would've probably came through. I agree though it does make for entertaining scraps. Any thoughts on loma/haney? I'm half way through but apparently it's massively controversial
It's not massively controversial. I did have Loma but 2 or 3 rounds but it was a very close fight. The 116-112 is what pisses people off and gives the robbery debate fuel. Also Moretti, the worst judge ever giving Haney round 10. That's just not possible with anyone who understands boxing. Haney started well but Loma was very good throughout. Haney invested in the body and lots of that work will have went unnoticed with the casual audience. He looked slick. But Loma rolled back the years and fired with some serious combinations and put on lots of pressure. As I say, had Loma winning by a couple but not massively furious that Haney got the nod.
I Woke up and searched the result on twitter (I know) and everyone was kicking off saying it was controversial. Watched it back now and it was close as. Had loma by 2 but like you say nothing in it really. Imo, it's a shame about loma. Although shame is probably too harsh, for the world class legend he is, I hope he isn't going to end up with 3 or 4 losses in a row and then retire. These young lads are unbelievable haney, tank, Shakur, even garcia would give him a scrap (loma would bray garcia) I just can't see him keeping up with them all nowadays.
Loma won that fight. If Haney had somehow got a draw then I could almost understand it, but to win unanimous and 116-112 on one card in particular is ridiculous in my opinion. Haney v Shakur/Tank is far more marketable though. Disappointing.
That's the issue. The 116-112 just rages everyone. It was super close. A round or 2 either way then I accept. That's how close it was. Shame for Loma getting the wrong end of it again though. Absolute monster fighter. Haney was very relieved leaving that ring. Fair play to him too mind. Starting to build a big resume. Home fans were booing after the result, normally tells you that the wrong man got his hand raised. Was no robbery though. In my eyes anyway.
Yeah. Monster division. They are not ducking either which is great. Tank still looks like the one to beat for me.
It was a good fight and Loma nicked it for me, I thought Haney was going down in the 10th? Or was it the 11th? Anyway a very enjoyable fight. I just wish more of the elite fighters would fight each other instead of just protecting their unbeaten records.
Can not believe Lara has come in so over. Agree with the Bbboc me. Poor preparation from Lara. Fight shouldn't be happening. It's a full weight class and a bit more above and Lara is a monsterous KO artist.
Hahaha. I am still out. Was going to get back and watch this and Lara fight. The sauce is the worst ever to watch mind.
Was it the usual performance from the sauce ? Horrendous watch normally. Surprised to read ge got dropped a few times mind. A first that. Just watched Wood Vs Lara. Wood was perfect , great feet and lethal counters. Lara wasn't at it. Smells like he didn't prepare for this fight, like the first one anyway. Seen Conlon absolutely eviscerated again. Danger of becoming a Instagram pad fighter. Every time he steps up to world level gets absolutely smashed to bits. Wont be able to take much more of those KO. End up eating through a tube.
Only caught the last 6 rounds. Just leaning and pushing with shoulder. He was on the brink of disqualification. Don't know where his head was mentally.
