They do not use the clubs to squeeze the last ounce of gold. They put money in, they apparently help local communities and charities, build gyms etc. But even they must have realised now there is a limit to what they can do. Yesterday confirmed that. But don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying they are angels. A lot of the explosion of transfer fees and player power has been because of them with resulting effect on the likes of Madrid and Barcelona going bankrupt trying to chase them.
In 2024, two UCL places will be given to the clubs with the HIGHEST club coefficient that weren't able to qualify to the UCL through their domestic leagues. For example, if a club like Liverpool ends up ranked 6th in the Premier League, they would still qualify. Furthermore, if, for example, a club like West Ham ends up 5th in the Premier League, and Liverpool ends up 6th, West Ham would qualify for the Europa League and Liverpool would qualify for the UCL. This can't be allowed to happen either! What happens if West Ham finished fourth? Would they still be in the CL or would Liverpool replace them?
the beauty of the current system for big clubs is this turn up in a group. seeds 1, 2 make weights in there you can play kids against. fans get jipped but you are almost assured to be in last 16. Bayern know 100% they only need have enough top players to compete form last 16 onwards and they can simply do enough at home to win the league 9 times out of 10 minimum. We know the same but know we can't really win our league as its too competitive. Literally LFC can save up their players for the last 16 onwards, throw the cups and have a cut at it. Fans know that if we go to a ESL we are gone. we can have all the money but we just won't be able to win it unless we can get to knock outs. we would be also fans with FSG. we know it. City and cheslea do not care about money so will win titles and hoover up players left and right. they jump on board this thing as they fears they would be looking at the premier trophy not involving them by right. they jumped in and then right back out. what we have seen is a power grab by clubs to are desperate which has failed and now the way is open for the oil clubs to dominate english and european football for decades.
After this season we will sit around 4th ish in coefficient too, so we have a long way to fall to not qualify through these means. Which in turn means we will continue to accrue coefficient points and never really drop out
that is a classic case of press spin. If west ham finish 5th they are entitled to europe and get europa. end of. if west ham finish 4th then they get CL. and well get cL. end of. The 2 club stuff is extra when rich club don't have to "earn it" two entirely separate things but conlfagrated just to make it seems like west ham will be punished somehow.
They put West Ham in fifth to highlight how unjust and unfair it is; a club finishing higher getting a lesser reward
the issue is not raw position. Lets look at the top clubs red = the scabs look at how many are virutally assured just by turning up to be in. It is not until we get down to brass tacks in england that this becomes and issue. And i think when you see seville and villreal potentially being the issue for one space you will see that the english clubs cannot assure themselves of those two spots. 2 into 4 again does not work. sevilla, roma, villareal, acmilan and dortmund are all issues for the english big 6. FC Bayern München - assured qualification Real Madrid CF - assured qualification FC Barcelona -assured qualification Manchester City FC - assured qualification Juventus - assured qualification Club Atlético de Madrid - assured qualiifcation Paris Saint-Germain assured qualification Manchester United FC Liverpool FC Sevilla FC almost assured qualification, not quite. Arsenal FC Chelsea FC Borussia Dortmund assured qualification Tottenham Hotspur FC Porto assured qualification AS Roma AFC Ajax assured qualification start to get the dregs FC Shakhtar Donetsk Olympique Lyonnais SSC Napoli RB Leipzig FC Salzburg SL Benfica Bayer 04 Leverkusen Villarreal CF FC Internazionale Milano Atalanta BC FC Zenit FC Basel 1893 Beşiktaş JK note that AC milan are 53rd currently with no standing this all says to be that the big clubs were not happy with uefa as uefa are underselling the CL rights but also not gogin enough to assure them of entry. The scheme the 12 came up with was almost the same as the eufa one but with a closed door threating to take all the money.
There's a private members bill currently going through. There was a video call with MP's, Jordan Henderson, Mings, Deeney and an LFC women's team member in January this year discussing governance in football. I will see if I can find it.
The ECA signed this off a couple of days ago . The CL will be a complete dogs dinner of a competition .
yup. the ECA are a nothing entity. they have ruine dthe LC as its going to be absolutely dull and guess what. they have just ended the league cup. it should now be only for the championship clubs and the european space for the premier league. how many times will man city b need to win this to prove it.
I think I'm right in believing we could theoretically have seven teams from one nation in the CL. Top four plus the CL or EL winners finishing outside said the top four makes it up to five atm. Throwing in the top two top ranked but not qualified makes it seven. This season shows its feasible with Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs all currently outside the top four.
I just want to point out the FSG also recklessly sold our shirt sponsorship to nike on the basis of portion of revenue. we are out of CL currently and have ran the clubs name through the mud. As a result we will probably earn buttons form the deal. again the grand assumption of ever increasing performance and demand based on zero investment will blow up in LFcs faces and fsg won't pick up the slack. reap what you sew lol
not sure mate i didn't see about the europa or the champions form the prior year. the current maximum allowed is 5 but who knows, you might be right but quite how it would ever fall that way is hard to see.
If the maximum remains at five then the top ranked sides get in at the expense of those that have actually qualified. West Ham miss out to Liverpool and Chelsea based on ther current league table.
one could argue that performance over 5 years is "earning it" just as much as one complete fluke of a year that west ham are having I think the case that westham could finish 5th and arsenal 9th but arsenal could win the europa and so "earn it" If you are after putting the hard yards in over 5 years to have a high coefficent like say seville would they not have "earned it" just as much as villareal who might finish 4th the odd time in spain. the reality here is the financial penalty of not being in could cripple seville. There more merit to this than there wa sin the ESL where ac milan from nowhere (53rd as they are and have been crap) are a founder and assured of loadsa dosh and status. Its still ****ty.
