the proposal that has been accepted means there will be more CL games so the top 4 will be along pressurizing yet more changes to the thing. Can city b have won this league cup how many times in a row now? the proposal means more games in the period when the league cup must run.
Well, I'm not a fan of coefficent either as that also is a way of helping the bigger clubs. Rather it be a free for all draw, just avoid teams from the same country being drawn together early on. Buts that's another argument for another day
yes, the coefficient system rewards performance with seeding and money assures performance. unitl arsenal were in the thing long enough to get a second seeding i think wenger failed to get out of groups 5 years in a row. I would agree a free draw is the fairest system especially if you have two massive groups to plan off not small groups.
Lolll exactly! The big clubs and UEFA played everyone for fools! I wonder if teams will still wear those t-shirts that say 'Earn It'?? The big clubs got what they want which was pretty much a guaranteed spot in the CL (it's 2 teams now, no doubt will increase in future) and they will be increasing the prize money as well. UEFA got the fans and media to do all the fighting for them. The very thing that everyone was up in arms over is already happening.
It was all a power play. A negotiation between the big clubs and UEFA. If anything, the big clubs realise they do have a lot of power to dictate terms. It may look like a loss because of the embarrassing withdrawal of the SL but they got what they wanted. And you better believe it will happen again in future ...
This definitely wasn't a power play as it had gone way too far for that but yep see you here again in 5 years . Though wouldn't be surprised to see the authorities don't take steps to stop this sort of arrangement .
When you see such things happening, you know the establishment are up for disruption. I work in the fintech space (product dev) and have worked for big banks. They (big banks) behave exactly the same way as the "big 6". The thing is fintech start ups work to solve a problem that allows financial inclusion of the majority and solve for scale. As such they are disrupting every level of the finance eco system and the big banks cannot see what is coming. If you asked anyone who the biggest bank in Kenya is they'd tell you it is not a bank but a mobile network operator. They solved mobile payments and have built a massive product eco system around it that is growing exponentially. The same thing will happen to football and as soon as somebody figures it out, there will be more parity than just rich boys having their way. There is a lack of first principles thinking in the big 6 and thus why their solutions will not stand the test of time.
got you. Seriously any chance you could start having a quick look at your posts before hitting "post" as they regularly take quite a bit of deciphering .
When he returned I questioned whether it was actually him because his posts weren't written in mitoese. He's slowly returned to it over time
You can at least say with the UEFA coefficient that it's kind of earned because they had to earn the coefficient in the first place, but even that argument becomes still more tenuous and diluted if a team keeps only qualifiying because of the coefficient.
