You have to wonder with no details coming out about the clubs breaching this rule or that rule, it's more a show of doing something as opposed to doing nothing. No mention of any rule changes or additions either.
£3.6m each is more than the the 1.6m Euros they got from UEFA but still pathetic really. Interesting to see if ther owners offer to pay this fine themselves too...
I think Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and utd owners have all said they will pay the fines and won't be putting them on the clubs.
Yes. "BBC Sport understands Manchester United's owners the Glazer family, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group, Arsenal's majority shareholders Kroenke Sports Enterprises and Tottenham's owners will pay the fine rather than their clubs" https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57414151
Barca, Real and Juve insisting they can carry on with the ESL free from Uefa punishment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58032324 Think they're flogging a dead horse now. The English clubs won't go back (2 of them don't need to) and the others will be worried about fan opposition and potential uefa sanction. Going to be a **** league with only 3 teams in it. Can just see the backers wanting to pony up for a 4 game league
The ESL think they have contractually tied all the other teams to this competition, hence their belligerence. If I was one of the PL clubs, or any of the others, apart from the 3 piece of **** scumbag clubs, I would play in the league. What I would do is get 11 guys from the pub down the road, sling them in your shirts and send them to play, dont arrange a coach for them, dont put them up in hotels, just send them over there in your kits in economy class flights, to play the game and come back again. Dont do any media or hype for the league, dont even mention it. But if I was contractually obligated to do it, thats what I would do. Just sign up random idiots who apply to go over there and play. The ****tiness of the quality would soon see investors pull out and the league die.
PS the crux of it is, Barca and Juve are a ****s hair away from going bust, hence their desperation for this. La Liga know its in theit best interests to keep Barca afloat, and the ESL stands a higher chance of success with Real Madrid in it, hence why Real are being pressured to play in it. It's basically two mismanaged **** clubs who are pushing to ruin european football so they can escape the consequences of their **** financial management. Oh and good luck getting the European Courts to make any ruling against the PL clubs...Ahh Brexit..... Its not Ahhhhh, Bisto. its now Ahhhhh, Brexit
I thought there was a drop dead date built in that is basically gone as is the money from whichever bank it was. But real are up to their neck in this, let's not excuse them one bit
Called it. UEFA actions are anti-competitive and they have dropped all fines to everyone. This will resurface again at some point soon.
What the **** is this about the spanish courts. What did uefa see coming that's made them think to drop everything?
This is the thing. Just shows how bad Uefa really are though. They didn’t stop the esl. They couldn’t fight the clubs on it. The only reason it stopped was because of the fans. if the clubs can get the fans on board with it, even to the point where so it’s a majority of fans, then they’ll try again for it. Might be 5 years. Might be 10. But they know that uefa have no leg to stand on to stop it now.
What I don't get is they've ran like scalded cats while 3 clubs are sat claiming they are still in the ESL while also in the CL. the only real reason it failed is due to the prem rules it seems rather than even fans. The prem rules means the english clubs folded like a 7 - 2 offsuit in texas holdem.
bluffers have been known to win on seven deuce, it works no problem until that one time you get called on it and you lose it all.
There is now a question to be discussed on this topic. @Tobes Now this is parking the fishing and a serious question. How does the sale of Newcastle to an oil state affect the balance of power in the Premier league voting structures We know 14 clubs voted no to the esl or made the standagainst it. Now you've potentially a block of 7 and other clubs like villa or even Everton might well see it as better to be in the elite than siding with the survivors. How do you see the current rules protecting the status quo given there was a tipping point of needing 14 clubs to force rules through?
Indeed. If you have £300bn in the bank, there are far easier, and less stressful ways to make it grow than investing in a football team.
