The Severnside derby involving Bristol City and Cardiff City might stretch back over 100 years but Saturday’s encounter is the first to be played behind closed doors.
But despite fans having to watch the match from the comfort of their own homes via Robins TV, three points and local pride are still up for grabs – and for Lee Johnson’s side there is also the chance to complete a rare season double over the Bluebirds.
A win for the Robins would leave them three points off the Bluebirds (and complete a rare double over their Welsh rivals), who occupy sixth spot heading into the weekend.
The 1-0 win in South Wales back in November was the first win on Cardiff soil since December 2002 – coincidentally the season they last beat their local rivals home and away.
Cardiff City arrive at Ashton Gate in good form. Unbeaten in their last six matches, including a victory over leaders Leeds United, they are pushing hard for a top-six spot and a chance to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Saturday's fixture is available free on Robins TV Live to Season Card holders (the stream starts one hour ahead of kick-off with all the build-up, analysis, and post-match comments). Non-Season Card holders can purchase an audio pass, no video stream is available to non-Season Card holders as the match has been selected for broadcast by Sky Sports.

    Recent form
Bristol City have slipped from play-off contention since the restart, with three successive defeats to Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently Nottingham Forest, who earned a 1-0 win at the City Ground on Wednesday.

Cardiff, meanwhile, have won two and drawn one so far. They started with a surprise 2-0 win over Leeds, before beating Preston 3-1 at Deepdale and then being held to a stalemate by Charlton in midweek.

    Opta stats
Bristol City are looking to complete a league double over Cardiff for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
Cardiff have lost two of their last three league games against Bristol City (W1), as many as they had lost in their previous 15 league games against the Robins (W10 D3 L2).
Cardiff have lost only twice in their last 14 Championship matches (W6 D6), going unbeaten in their last five (W3 D2).
Bristol City are winless in their last eight league games (D2 L6), their longest run without a victory since January 2017 (9 games).
Bristol City striker Nahki Wells has been directly involved in six goals in his last three league starts against Cardiff (4 goals, 2 assists), netting a hat-trick earlier this season for QPR against the Bluebirds.

    Prutton's prediction
Three defeats on the spin for Bristol City, and it's looking like another sign of being close but not being quite there under Lee Johnson.
Cardiff's momentum was halted by Charlton in midweek, but they are still in pole position for the play-offs as they occupy sixth. It is up to them not to let it go, and I don't think they will on Saturday.
    David Prutton predicts: 1-2 ()

Pubs open in England tomorrow, so I expect quite a few Cardiff fans will be tempted to travel across tomorrow.

Eliasson doesn’t even make the bench today.
    Unbelievable (unless he’s injured)

I thought he'd play Fammy with either Wells or Afobe. I don't watch much but I'd have thought Elliasson would have been the right call from the wing.

He had a knock and ruled out against Forest, but they was hoping he would be back today. But just said on the stream he’s still injured.

For the 2nd time this week it is yet again same old, same old.

Played ok but undone by exactly what we lack, that piece of quality at the right time, Tomlin's slide rule pass and Ward's superb finish. They have Tomlin as an impact sub and we have the lightweight Paterson. We had a quite a few similar dangerous positions but our final ball was woeful.

Yet again we played well box to box and as soon as we get close to the opponents we totally run out of ideas, that allied with woeful crossing all game when we did manage to get the ball wide, the first dangerous cross came in the 93rd minute, once more a paltry 3 shots on target, they had only 2 but had quality when it was needed.

I felt sorry for Baker and Kalas probably the best 2 players on the field, Bentley made one great save, Smith played well again, Nagy was ok, Vyner faded, DaSilva was ok, Wiemann was poor, Wells and Diedhiou had shocking service yet again, ODowda was ok but his crossing is shocking.

Another loss, the only hope that I cling on to is that the rumours are correct and Johnson is going at the end of the season, he has had his chance and has fallen short. Thank you Lee you have stabilised us somewhat, but you cannot throw that roller coaster record of your seen at every single club you have managed, longish unbeaten runs followed by even longer winless runs and that cannot be just down to the players.
