The time. And the inclination. I told my son that one day he would appreciate the time and effort one of his teachers put in to travel 20 miles to run the football team. Especially as he was Welsh and a rugby union man. They had great success out of proportion to the small size of the school. Since he retired you no longer hear of that school competing in finals even though it has grown considerably. Mind you having a headmistress who cancelled sports days as no child should know how it feels to lose and has a day where they do things like throw bean bags without anyone measuring the distance and propel hoops along or dribble football round obstacles without being timed hasn't helped.
