My ratings having been at the game today:

Davis - 8 - not a lot he could so about the goals as it was down to poor defending. Commanded his area well, and made some top saves!

Clyne - 7 - good game, cracking goal!

Yoshida - 5 - dodgy start, slowly improved...

Hooiveld - 4 - and I think 4 is pushing it...! Slow, beaten, two goals down to poor defending.

    Shaw - 7 - again a good game

    Ward-Prowse - 6 - comfortable game

    Cork - 6 - as above

    Schneiderlin - as above

Davis - 7 - got stuck in throughout, put the ball about well

Ramirez - 4 - don't even know why he still plays. Lazy, tries pathetic flicks, and for him to come off because he was tired having played about a total of two games this season is just poor

Lambert - 6 - and only a 6 because he waits patiently or that goal. Not a lot else apart from some good passes. Seemed isolated up front leading up to his goal

Rodriguez - 7/8 - a very good game. Impresses more and more very time I see him

Lallana - 8 - his presence just boots the team so much. An incredible talent and deserved his goal.

Fonte - not enough time to give a score.

Can't see the first goal clearly enough on the highlights, but can you tell me how the Ings goal was Hooiveld's fault?

An 8 for SKD after the goal that beat him at the near post, with a 6" gap?

Not that I'm defending him but it seemed to go over him rather than between him and the post.

Just seen the goals, if Boruc was playing none of them would of gone in.

He got skinned by Ings. It was his initial ball to win, and Ings had more desire to get there ahead of him. Looked like he was running backwards after him as well.

How could he have possibly won the first ball? It was about ten feet over his head!

As I remember he misjudged it and was left for dead by Ings. Saying that, I haven't seen it again on TV, only live. You may be right, and if so, I apologise.

    Fair enough. Highlights here: http://www.itv.com/sport/football/a...rd-round-highlights-southampton-4-3-burnley/?

He was done for pace but I don't really know what else he could have done. Maybe Yoshida should have come across after Ings got past Hooiveld, maybe Davis should have done better too. Not sure how Hooiveld is really to blame though. Having said that, I have only seen the goals.

It is simply very easy to blame Jos for everything that happens.... even by people who just heard the radio on Solent had an opinion immediately. Think allready before the game they had an opinion.....

You and I definitely see different football matches. Their second goal was mainly a Hooiveld fault compounded by pretty crap goalkeeping. Their third goal Kelvin did nothing: he didn't come for the all or command the 6 yard box and only weakly waved an arm at the ball. His distribution again was pretty mediocre.
He gets a 4 or 5 from me.

    HaHaHaHAHA

I didn't give him an 8. There is a question mark at the end of my sentence. Someone else (the one I quoted) gave him an 8 and I was saying 8???? Looked like he had a mare with the near post goal. So maybe we don't see different games; I've obviously annoyed you somewhen else though :D

    What?!!!

Believe me, I'm normally a big J-Rod fan, but he had a mare today. His shooting was woeful. At least five times he should have scored/shot on target, and he either underhit it, scuffed it, or blasted over. His finishing has always been questionable. He is great out wide running with the ball but he is a weak centre forward. I'd give him a 5 today.

Having seen those highlights it look as if Hooiveld is at fault for the goal, the first issue is he is completely beaten for pace - Ings doesn't even look very quick, but he's miles ahead of Hooiveld instantly - which isn't necessarily his fault, but he seems to give up after Ings gets past him; he stops sprinting and doesn't even put pressure on Ings or make a challenge. It certainly doesn't help that Yoshida is casually jogging back, and not closing down the angle, but I don't think that goal would have been scored had Lovren or Fonte been in that position.
