Best Driver: Leclerc Worst Driver: Stroll Luckiest Driver: Max to finish Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson for being the Haas victim this week. Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc Best Team: Sauber Surprise Team: Sauber Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Max on Vettel Most Surprising Result: Dani Ric engine survives Least Surprising Result: Leclerc being best rookie/Max being a tit Funniest moment: Hamilton lecturing on maturity Excuse of the week: Horner Special Mention: Leclerc for holding on to the back of Bottas and latterly Vettel for longer than he had any right to. Vandoorne for showing again he’s not actually bad. Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Ocon. Got the win for his parent team Worst Driver: Stroll, or Max Luckiest Driver: Max, should've been out for his stupidity Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson, his car broken before the race and then he got Haas'd. poor start though, I think I jinxed the poor fella. Best Rookie/New Driver:Leclerc, going to be interesting to see what happens at Ferrari next year. Best Team: RBR but for a fire extinguisher & Crashappen's ego could've been a 1-2 Surprise Team: Sauber Worst Team: Stewards, got every decision wrong, mainly because it was the golden geese of Vettel, Hamilton & Crashappen involved. Best Overtake: I'm going for the early race Renault battle that went on for half a lap. Most Surprising Result: Danny finished Least Surprising Result: Max hits someone for having the temerity to try and pass him Funniest moment: Max spinning Excuse of the week: Special Mention:Kimi Best post in race thread: this one, obviously. Race Rating: 7.895/10 I thought this was a great race, incidents and over-takes aplenty
Best Driver: Leclerc. Vettel is going to have his hands full next year Worst Driver: Max. Threw away an easy win Luckiest Driver: Hamilton. Gifted the win following another strategic trip, dribble spill Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc. Goes without saying. Best Team: Not sure on this one. Maybe Sauber. Surprise Team: Sauber Worst Team: Williams, Macca... Take your pick Best Overtake: Can't remember who it was against, but Riccardo made one stick from way back. Will try look it up. Most Surprising Result: Leclerc hanging out with the big boys Least Surprising Result: Max, maxterminating another opponent Funniest moment: The irony of Max calling Ocon an idiot. Kimi looking bored as hell on the podium Excuse of the week: Special Mention: Goes to the Merc strategist. They'd be better off employing Paul the Octopus. Best post in race thread: Mine, clearly. Race Rating: 7/10
Not a chance. Surely I'd contributed before you handed out your awards? – I'll be expecting an edit once you've got up to speed. ;-)
Got a feeling Vettel has peaked. He's had a poor few past seasons and has behaved like a man under pressure who can't handle the pressure. Leclerc will finish him off.
It hasn't just been this season though. And the worry has to be the way he now habitually makes errors under pressure.
Best Driver: Le Clerc Worst Driver: Max for not seeing the bigger picture otherwise Bottas & Vettel (the later I think having a crisis of confidence). Luckiest Driver: Max because he did not get a penalty for his driving Ocon off track. Unluckiest Driver: Ocon Best Rookie/New Driver: Le Clerc Best Team: Mercedes Surprise Team: Ferrari, under performed although Kimi was again on the Podium. Kimi has done more for the Ferrari brand that Vettel this year. Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Daniel on Vettel Most Surprising Result: Ocon getting a 10 second penalty Least Surprising Result: Stroll Funniest moment: Watching Max gracefully sliding and twisting as he went off track Excuse of the week: Horner saying Ocon was lucky it was only a push. Special Mention: Le Clerc plus the absence of comment about Bottas's performance which seemed lack lustre. Best post in race thread: Race Rating: 7/10
10 sec stop/go penalty, which makes it about 30 seconds. It hihk Crashappen would have to rhit someone, then run over their lifeless body to make sure, before he got a punishment as draconian as that.
Best Driver: Leclerc / Hamilton. Leclerc punching above his weight like that was impressive. Hamilton kept cool despite mechanical difficulties and knowing power unit failure appeared to be imminent [*See Best Team]. Worst Driver: Pound for pound: Vettel and Bottas. Both were well below the expectations of their teams during the race. Luckiest Driver: Verstappen. How he got away with his adolescent behaviour, both on and off track, without (real) penalty and still managed to finish second – and still thinking of himself as the aggrieved in every aspect and essentially backed-up by the outcome(s) – was and is a travesty. I found it embarrassing; and in my view it does nothing to enhance the image of F1. Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson. Very unlucky in a race which – with potential for a life-time best could have been his defining moment. Recent performances have been an eye-opener. I was probably one of his biggest critics when his driving suggested he was out of his depth, but he has kept his head down and worked very hard; and he gets my vote as the most improved F1 driver in years. On a personal level I almost feel sorry for him getting the boot; but ultimately, I think it is the correct decision. Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc. Best Team: Mercedes. Keeping Hamilton running: a massively successful team effort. Surprise Team: Sauber. Quite impressive. Worst Team: A very easy choice: Williams. Best Overtake: Verstappen v Ocon. Seriously though; Ricciardo on Vettel. Plenty of others were good too! Most Surprising Result: In future I'll know better not to expect Verstappen to cruise to what should have been a foregone conclusion of a win. Least Surprising Result: Two: Verstappen for his arrogance and Horner for once again being the sycophant. Both should be ashamed of themselves. Neither are. Funniest moment: Verstappen's total lack of response to Hamilton's simple words of wisdom – together with the look on his face – suggested the absolutely plain obvious genuinely hadn't occurred to him! Excuse of the week: Little Jack in the Corner. Special Mention: Red Bull senior management statements which border on disgraceful. An embarrassing lack of judgement, in my opinion. Best post in race thread: Obviously one of Bhaji's. Race Rating: 8.52/10. Throughly entertaining.
