Hmm, leave it in the hands of the Government as they are accountable, but grumble that the rich can buy a peerage or fund a political party. Aye, that's a consistent view and no mistake.

Unfortunately, it's the best we have. Sad as that may be.

The wealthy don’t create wealth. Workers create capital, and the wealthy accumulate it.

That's fine then, all the workers need to do is keep it themselves.

Your argument has been offered and destroyed far too many times for me to even bother doing it again.

It’s not my argument, or even Karl Marx’s. It’s Adam Smith’s, the ‘grandfather of capitalism’.

I don't blame you for trying to distance yourself from it now.

I’m not distancing myself from it; I agree with the argument. I was just saying it’s not my original argument, but that of economic theorists far more intelligent than a mod on a football forum.

The Costco model is a good one. They are the number one retailer in the US for staff satisfaction and retention. It's not a coincidence that they look after their workers, and pay their entry-level staff well above the minimum wage. Their owner is allegedly not a Billionaire.

It's not me that's shown it to be bollocks, it's experts in that field, who know a damn site more than someone that has google.

Smith also said that markets do best when Governments are kept out of them. :emoticon-0105-wink:

    What experts? <laugh>

Did Musk manufacture every single Tesla that the company has ever produced and sold? No, so he’s not a ‘wealth-creator’, merely a wealth-accumulator. The tens of thousands of workers within Tesla are collectively responsible for the capital generated.

He doesn't even use Tesla's technology, but if it's as easy as you say, any one of his workers, or you, could simply do the same.

Give us a shout when you've done it, and let us know how much tax you pay then. :emoticon-0128-hi:

Without Musk creating Tesla, they don’t even have a job.

Musk didn’t create Tesla. He purchased a stake in it, so I’d love to know how Musk created jobs for a company prior to owning it.

They actually pay less than Amazon, but their working conditions seem to be better and they do get positive reviews.

Their founder James Sinegal is a billionaire and their current CEO earns $8m a year, rather a lot more than the average $15 per hour the staff get.
