Greetings folks! During this season I hope to post some match stats tables for the CAFC women's team. These tables will have a thread of their own, as will the stats table for the men's team of course. I don't know much about the women's team, so I'll be learning as I go along. To start off here is a link to the First Five Fixtures article on the CAFC website... https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/60fa76f8b88ec/women-202122-championship-fixtures-released I'll use this thread for any news updates regarding the women's team as the season goes on. Regards, Lardy

Bump! Charlton Athletic women are playing Blackburn Rovers today - the match is almost over with the score at 2-2 Apologies for neglecting this thread over the past year or so.
Got to be honest Lardy I do find ladies interesting but not ladies footy , but well done for keeping the PC brigade happy
Well, perhaps over time the women's team might bring more new fans to the Club. And I'm not sure that the promotion of women's football is really targeted at folks like you and me anyway. Let's face it - we're the Club's past. It's the kids and their kids who'll carry the support for CAFC into the future. Maybe three or four decades from now when we've all passed away there will be as many fans supporting our women as our men. Perhaps the CAFC women will even outshine them. From little acorns mighty Oaks grow...
A story I just heard on BBC 5 Live this morning; A women's match at Kenilworth Road last Sunday involving the Luton Town women's team was postponed just before kick-off. The reason given was that the men's team would be training on the pitch the following day, and the women's match would churn up the wet pitch too much. 800 fans brought by the visiting team had to go home without seeing their team play. Later Luton Town FC said that the women's match was called off because the pitch was waterlogged, and that the match would have been postponed even if it was a Championship game involving the men's first team. The players for the visiting team have since said that (although wet from heavy rain) the pitch was perfectly playable. The referee and match officials agreed. It was LTFC who told the teams and officials the match could not go ahead. I think whoever made that call should be ashamed of themselves. And the Club shames itself by covering up the truth - that women's competitive football at Luton Town comes second to the men's training sessions.
This weekend while my bad leg was playing me up I failed to notice that Charlton's women won their 3rd straight Championship game; A 1-0 victory over Sheffield United I'll update the women's team stats as soon as possible.
The women's Championship seems to be in a bit of trouble. Not sure what's going on - some matches were played yesterday but Charlton weren't involved. Now future fixtures are showing as 'to be determined' on the net. Charlton women haven't played a league game since December 4th as far as I can tell... The WSL is forging ahead according to Sky. Elite games involving the top 4 teams (Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd & Man City) are pulling in crowds of 40,000+. But women's football cannot develop if all attention is focused at just the very top. If even the 2nd tier is in some kind of difficulty, that must be sorted out. This obsession that TV has with just the very best of the best hurts men's football more than enough. It could kill the women's game.
I believe our women's team won a Championship game this afternoon First one since before Christmas I think. Stats page update and match report will follow soon...
A few updates on the women's team; GOOD NEWS The Addicks are now on a run of 8 straight victories in all competitions; 4 in the league Through to the 5th round of the FA Cup - against Birmingham City at home on Sunday Feb 26th (venue not known yet) Beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the League Cup BAD NEWS Ever-present forward Ella Rutherford ruptured an ACL in the 0-1 win over Coventry United on Sunday. She's the second Addicks player to suffer a bad ACL injury this season, Centre back Hannah Godfrey ruptured one of hers during Charlton's 3-0 home win over Birmingham City at the Valley back in September. Women's team stats page will be update shortly...
Our women's team were knocked out of the FA Cup at the 5th round (last 16) yesterday, by Birmingham City I think. 0-1 but not until extra time. for giving it a go...
Charlton Athletic women beat Southampton 1-0 today in the Women's Championship I know our women's team will be lucky to survive the latest financial crisis, but while they're around they bring pride to the badge each time they win. I'm sure they are doing their best.
