Another victory for our women's team today Apologies for not updating since their draw with Birmingham. I'll be doing a double-update in the next few days...
I think I'm FOUR games behind the curve now regarding our women's team - but I have done some of the number crunching. Will bring the stats table up to date shortly. Though the CAFC women are now unbeaten in 5 games they have drawn 3 of their last 4. They're still in with a mathematical chance of finishing top (only one promotion place to the WSL) but it's pretty unlikely now.
I've updated the stats tables for the women's team to their last game (away at London City) but I still have to add some match reports. It's a great pity we couldn't get a win over London City. That was our make-or-break game for slim hopes of a promotion. Had we won that - and if we could beat league leaders Bristol, a shot at the WSL might have been on. I know our team won't really have been ready for such a big step. But were Lenny's men ready for the top flight in 1987? They did pretty damned good. Hey ho. There might be next season, depending on how much more money TS wants to save.
FIFA boss Infantino says there will be no women's World Cup Final broacasts in Europe unless the TV companies bid more for rights. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/65423426 Just when momentum is building for people to watch women's football, he threatens a black-out because FIFA wants more cash. Great timing Gianni, you pillock. Women's football should be free to watch on all TV, that would grow the audience most quickly. FIFA should be giving the rights away. If the product is worth watching people will watch it. But all they're interested in is their snouts in the trough.
Hard luck to England's Lionesses Gave it their best shot, but Spain were better on the day. CAFC Women's season in the Championship kicks off next weekend I think. Contrary to views from certain quarters the new owners have not yet moved to ditch the women's team in order to save money. No guarantee that won't happen though...
Mrs Elfs has a friend, she said to me years ago, "oh yeah we like cock, it's that we don't like men!" A true story.
Hi chaps I will be updating the CAFC women's team stats thread soon I hope. I'm looking for a reliable source of match information - the kind of thing we take for granted when men's games are reported; possession, shots on/off target... that kind of thing. Was nigh-on impossible to find last season, but somebody must be producing the numbers somewhere.
Update: Charlton's women's team are doing very well in the Championship I'm sorry that I haven't had time to update the women's team stats this season. It's purely a question of available time. Working full time, my leisure time to keep up stats is naturally limited. I intended to keep up three sets of stats this season; Men's team Women's team Historical matches from 1905 onwards I find the historical matches very interesting, learning new things every time I compile one. And naturally what the men's team are doing this season is of interest to all members and all fans. I've had to prioritise those.
This story is a sad indictment of some of the morons on social media... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68001449 What has Eni Aluko done to deserve such vile abuse? Joey Barton only proves yet again what an utter tool he is. Even if you don't like certain pundits, comparing them to serial killers is just stupid. Linking their names to figures that are universally hated only encourages other pathetic hate-mongers to amplify the abuse from behind their sticky keyboards.
Joey Barton is a horrible individual, if he did not have a talent for football I am sure he'd have done time in the slammer. He has a history of violence. I'm not sure what his agenda is with his unnecessary comments but he needs to have channels taken away from him to keep him out of the public eye.
With 7 Championship games left to play Charlton women are two points clear at the top of the table If they reach the WSL it will be an incredible achievement. And to think the Sheriff wanted SE7 to disband the women's team when they took over CAFC. Called them a waste of money We know where the money has been wasted this season - on the SMT. Bunch of w**nkers. Only our women's team is doing the Club proud at the moment
Article on BBC Sport about player-coach relationships in women's football. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68562288 I agree such relationships are bad for the game on many levels, and should not be allowed. Their potential to cause disruption and conflict within a squad is obvious. Coaches or managers in their 40's or older should not be romantically involved with players, many of whom are in their early 20's or even teenagers. The gaffer has authority over their players, and could abuse that control. Any authority figure getting involved with somebody under their authority is showing very poor judgment. If they cannot help themselves they should resign. Especially when the object of their attention may be a generation younger than they are. And this I think should apply regardless of the gender of either person.
