Latest Media Releases Soccer match marred by poor behaviour â Homebush Saturday, 02 Jul 2011 11:35pm Police have expressed disappointment at crowd behaviour following a number of incidents involving drunken spectators during a soccer match at ANZ Stadium tonight (Saturday 2 July). More than 17,000 people attended the match between Celtic Football Club and Central Coast Mariners. A high visibility policing operation, utilising general duties and specialist officers, was conducted to ensure the safety of spectators and participants. Additional police resources were called to the event to deal with poor crowd behaviour. Operation Commander, Acting Superintendent Mick Rochester, said that while most fans were well-behaved, the night was marred by anti-social behaviour by a few. âNine men and two women were arrested after jumping the fence in an attempt to invade the pitch,â A/Supt Rochester said. âThey each face hefty fines and being banned from attending future events at the stadium. The majority of fans were at the ground to see a game of football – not to have the match spoiled by idiots.â In addition, 27 people were ejected from the stadium for being intoxicated, while 47 people were refused entry because of drunkenness. Five people were issued infringement notices for fail to quit with one of those subsequently arrested. One man was charged with assaulting police while another man was charged with assault. âIt is disappointing that drunken louts are under the impression they can attend these events and spoil everyone elseâs night,â A/Supt Rochester said. âThe message is a simple one â anti-social and criminal behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If you canât or wonât heed the message, donât attend these events. âA sporting event is not an excuse to break the law. If your team isnât performing well, or you disagree with a decision by the referee, you canât react by getting intoxicated, damaging property, assaulting others or making an idiot of yourself. âBe warned â police and event security staff will continue to act swiftly at sporting and other events to ensure any opportunities to disrupt the enjoyment of others are minimised. âAny offenders can expect to be arrested and face the consequences,â A/Supt Rochester said. http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/news/l...nb3YuYXUlMkZtZWRpYSUyRjE3NjAxLmh0bWwmYWxsPTE=
I had no idea that so many violinists were Celtic fans. No wonder Big Eck is getting it tight at Aston Vhilla please log in to view this image

Drunken behaviour, assaults, people trying to get on the pitch. When it happens at a Celtic game its just a little bit of craic.
And again, brush off their actions with a little bit of "humour" TGFITW, 3 pre-seasons on the trot they have disgraced themselves and Scottish football
Look, this is obviously your idea of a good old Wind Up but as can be seen from the feedback no one is biting so you have failed miserably.....again. If you are indeed serious about the points you are making then I must inform you that your arguments/insults have more holes than a tramp's vest. Celtic fans are no angels, football fans in general are no angels but there is NO EVIDENCE in this report saying who the perpetrators of the assaults were, and which team (if any) they support. I could have sworn that the game was in Australia? Would it not be fair to suggest that some (if not all) the fans misbehaving were Central Coast Mariners fans? Where does it say in that report that ANY Celtic fans were arrested? There is a clue in the report which you missed "“They each face hefty fines and being banned from attending future events at the stadium." So Fans from Glasgow/Scotland are banned from attending future events at the stadium? Seems a bit pointless don't you think?
No Celtic fans were at the game then? Maybe the photos of Celtics fans being ushered off the pitch might give us a clue. The fines and bans are in regards to the sentence that was before that comment “Nine men and two women were arrested after jumping the fence in an attempt to invade the pitch,” Who said anything about people from Glasgow/Scotland!?! We are talking about Celtic fans here, whether they are from Scotland, Austrailia or poland it doesn't matter!
Did I say that? No. So don't be stupid. Which photos? Have'nt seen any personally but fans being "ushered" infers that they were not causing any trouble and got a bit over exuberant. And? These 9 men and two women were what exactly? Celtic fans? Potential Celtic fans? Men in Black? Throw me a bone here. It doesn't matter? Even if they were Chelsea or Millwall fans wearing Celtic tops? Are clubs now responsible in full for the actions of people in some far flung country just because they are wearing a shirt? What sanctionms hould be brought to bear on Celtic for this outrage? And I want to know if it was FARE who grassed us up.
Oh Medro, any reason you posted a report from a Police website? Any links to this "crowd trouble" other than the one you posted where this battle was reported?
Maybe it was a Mariners fan right enough?! http://www.smh.com.au/sport/football/11-arrested-as-footy-fans-get-too-close-20110703-1gwr7.html
That article is a load of ****e. It was believable until the last bit. Celtic were vice-Champions were they not?
