Its always easy to pick out an individual. Its a team game with a team win and a team loss. Its unfair to pick out specific incidents but it is hard to refrain from. Ifs, buts and maybes. If Williams had passed to Adams, if Curry hadnt broken in an offside position, if we'd kicked the two easy penalties instead of going for the corner the Lions would have won the series in SA.
remote I don't agree with that ,the player missed 2 in my opinion easy chances ,I think my auntie could have scored them and shes in a wheelchair.just saying.
Missed chances like that are obvious. My original statement was they were harder to miss than to score. I do agree with OS regarding pointing the finger at 1 person. He got into position to score twice. Last season we struggled to get into scoring positions in the box from open play other than moore, who also missed a few. If he continues to get into positions, goals will come. We need a few others to join him in getting in the box. Ive always said I'd rather have goals from all over than 1 bloke scoring 20+. On the other hand, I hope TC has him working on his finishing as extras in training this week.
We'd better sign her up then. Nothing's easy except when you're in an armchair. He got on the end of the ball and fluffed the chances, but there was no other City player anywhere near him. If he hadn't been there, it would have been a waste of time Giles crossing the ball to nobody. As it is, the game will be remembered as much for Bacuna's misses as much as the point we earned.
If MM had picked Harris as he should have then he’s scoring one at least and probably both. Easy to say in hindsight but just look at his and Bacuna’s efforts v Newport as clear evidence of how to convert a ball across your body.
However, regardless of his inadequacies in front of goal, Bacuna does more around the park, which was needed with Barnsley's high tempo pressing game. Harris is essentially a front 3 player. I'm not a fan of Bacuna but understand why he was chosen. Harris should start up top with Moore tomorrow night.
OK then, back to the title of the thread. Top 6 again come Saturday night? Only 6 teams won last weekend and got 3 points each, so those obviously occupy the current top 6 spots. Of those, apart from Stoke who're a decent bet for the playoffs, none of the rest will stay there. After watching Bournemouth v Brom last Saturday and Fulham against Warnock's lot on Sunday, they look like 3 clubs in with a good shout of top 6 finishes. 3 points at Blackpool would probably put us in there come Saturday night. With Peterborough away and Millwall and Bristol City both at home to follow, we could still be in there come the end of the month - then who knows what could happen eh? OK, just thought I'd suggest it.
I tried to write something intelligent on the subject but it's normally not until the beginning of November that we get any hint as to what may unfold. Perhaps I could say Coventry and Luton finished last season well and along with Hull, may have shown some momentum. Beyond that, I have nothing. C'mon City
Think Fulham, Bournemouth and West Brom have to be there or thereabouts for top 3, probably along with the Blades again. Others I have a sneaky feeling about are Stoke (who have been slowly building I think), QPR and as much as I don't like saying it, Forest (that's NOT a fact yet though). Suspect we'll flirt with the playoffs for a bit but will probably fade earlier than last season as we are now entering a transition phase with all the young 'uns coming into contention. We'll probably see the season out with Mick and then try and new, younger, more progressive manager again after a mediocre season with lower than hoped for crowds... Not trying to sound gloomy BTW, I'd be OK with that if we had a decent exciting cup run again...
Just watched the first half of Peterborough/Derby game - 0-0 at the moment and it deserves that scoreline I never thought Derby could pass backwards any more than they did against us last season - but they are. Perborough no great shakes but at least they're having a go. We stuffed Derby 4-0 last season because of Rooney's tactics - if they keep going with that, they'll be down before Easter.
Yes, funny that - with Blackpool away today, consecutive games with two promoted teams from League One, both away.
Peterborough score again in 10th minute of injury time - Derby looking hopeless under pressure. Best Derby player on the pitch? - believe it or not, Ravel Morrison.
