Top two settled with Nodge and Watford bouncing back, but who does everyone want to join them? Bournemouth - making it a clean sweep for clubs returning at first attempt. Brentford - after a few years knocking on the door. Swansea - bringing back a Welsh presence in the PL. Barnsley - a prime contender for the ESL if the idea is resuscitated. I'm hankering after Barnsley. Northern(ish) and could do with an injection of hope and investment. The romantic choice. Brentford have been doing something special, but the PL has too many Lindon clubs already (6 or 7 if you count ManU).
First choice Swansea so that we have a goalkeeper who returns to us on a high Second choice Brentford as they play good football and have Ivan Toney Third choice Barnsley. Bournemouth to become the championship version of Sunderland
1. Barnsley for a laugh and some easy points/one less relegation place to worry about. 2. Bournemouth, cos I can get to that game reasonably easy in case Ashley/Bruce actually have ****ed off. 3. Swansea so we can sell a goalkeeper and get Woody back. 4. Brentford. **** off london.
Maybe one less relegation place but I reckon Barnsley would achieve at least 4 points from a Bruce team.
As Barnsley, Swansea and Bournemouth are ex-PL clubs, Brentford would offer a bit freshness. In reality I couldn't care less.
I've a long memory. Was there with Heed in the 80s. Two scruffy pissant Barnsley fans attacked two of our shirt-wearing fans outside the stadium after the game, totally unprovoked, they all got nicked. We were standing talking to these lads when it happened. They would have got a fine and a criminal record because of these two Barnsley ****s (I accept it was a common occurrence in those days but still).
Remember back in '88 going over there and arriving a bit early with about 5 other lads. Got escorted immediately to the ground by S Yorks finest. 18 plod escorted 6 of us, including 6 mounted .... **** hole of a ground too
It's only natural to not forget. First time I went to Goodison (1985?) there was unprovoked trouble. I went several years later and it happened again. They seem to have a thing about spitting at people who wear black and white shirts. Perhaps they should chew more toffees. For that reason, I cannot bear them. Oddly, my experieces with Liverpool fans have been quite positive.
Strange you should mention Everton as on two separate occasions in the 2000’s have been with my youngest daughter she would have been about late teens and early twenties but she does look young and she has been threatened both times by about 4 or 5 Everton fans making throat cutting gestures at her, not me, just her. On one occasion the group was on the top deck of a bus passing by and the other the group was in a taxi also passing by. TBH we both broke down in fits of laughter. The first time the group was all about 10 years old and the second time they were even younger at about 8 years old or thereabouts.
Brentford, so Ivan Toney can score a hat trick against us in the Prem and show us what utter twats we were for letting him go.
