Swansea City defender Declan John has joined Sunderland on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to international clearance. The 24-year-old links up with Phil Parkinson’s side as the Black Cats look to secure promotion from League One on the back of a strong recent run of results. Wales international John had made five appearances for the Swans so far this term. The full-back joined Swansea from Rangers on a three-year deal in the summer of 2018, and went on to feature 13 times during his first season in SA1. We wish Declan every success with his loan at the Stadium of Light.
Baston to Villa? Swansea City striker Borja Baston is set to join Aston Villa on a free transfer. Borja, a £15.5m signing from Atletico Madrid in 2016, has struggled for game-time this season and will be allowed to leave by Swansea because of his sizeable wages. The 27-year-old’s Liberty Stadium contract was due to expire this summer. Borja started this campaign by scoring five goals in five matches but lost his place in Steve Cooper’s side in the autumn. He had travelled to Preston with the rest of Swansea’s squad this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s Championship game with Preston, but is now on his way to Villa. Borja’s exit is likely to see under-23 striker Liam Cullen promoted to Cooper’s first-team squad. Swansea are also expected to offload Barrie McKay on loan before tonight’s transfer deadline with Fleetwood interested in the winger.
Aston Villa's deal for Borja Baston is very much driven by sporting director Suso. The player is well known to him from his younger day in Spain and has been aware of his talents for a long time.
I like him, certainly going forward hes a decent player , he just hasn't had enough chances to get a regular start and in answer to your question imo yes he could.
The night of the long knives continues Tom Carroll gone as well https://www.swanseacity.com/news/borja-baston-leaves-swansea-city-aston-villa
Swansea City midfielder Jack Evans has joined Mansfield Town on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to international clearance. The 21-year-old links up with the Stags, with Graham Coughlan’s side sitting 21st in the League Two table. Evans, who recently signed a new contract with the Swans through to the summer of 2021, first joined the club’s academy at the age of eight. After missing the entire 2018-19 season while he received successful treatment for cancer, the central midfielder returned to captain the club’s under-23s side this term – making 13 appearances in Premier League 2 Division 2. He made his first-team debut as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Cambridge United in August. We wish Jack every success in his spell at Field Mill.
Cooper did say thats what he needed, Its beginning to look like the kids will be playing a big part next season
