"Rangers Football Club will not be taking its allocation of tickets for the forthcoming Scottish Cup match against Dundee United at Tannadice.

"This is a unanimous decision by the board, senior management and staff at Ibrox.

"Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers when we were in a perilous situation and we are acutely aware of their attitude to us.

"Not all clubs who voted against Rangers returning to the SPL fall into that category and indeed we made Motherwell very welcome when we played them at Ibrox in the League Cup competition recently.

“However, feelings remain very raw and it should be no surprise that we as a club feel this way.

"It is unsurprising too that there has been a reaction from our supporters to this particular fixture.

"The last thing we as a club want to do is to compromise security arrangements for any match.

"I therefore appeal to all fans not to travel to this match and to Dundee United not to sell tickets to Rangers supporters.

"Our only regret is that this turn of events will not assist Ally McCoist and the team in what will be a very difficult fixture.

"We should make clear that the club, the manager and the players all look forward to a situation where Rangers fans attend every match to support the team. The fans are our greatest asset."

No. Rule 41 states: "the visiting club shall have the right to claim admissions up to 20% of the spectator capacity of the ground". It is a right, not an obligation.

How much of the gate are we entitled to?

The visiting club is entitled to 37.5% of the gate. Rule 46©(1) requires 5% of the gate to be given to the SFA as a levy. Rule 46©(2) allows the home club to keep 2...0% of the gate. Rule 46©(3) splits the remainder equally between the clubs i.e. we get half of 75%.

    When do we get paid?

Rule 46(e) requires the home club to pay our share to us on the day of the match (unless agreement is otherwise reached).

Can Dundee Hibs reduce the ticket price to, say, £1?

No. Rule 40 requires that the price is to be agreed between the clubs. In the absence of agreement "the charges which are normally made for the regular fixtures of the club" will apply. In any event, the price cannot be below £8. So if Green does not agree otherwise, Dundee Hibs will have to charge their normal prices (£20-£25?).

    What could this mean?

Let's say 6,000 Dundee Hibs fans turn up at £23 each, we get £51,750 paid to us on the day of the match.

Will the SFA change/fudge/re-interpret their rules?

You just know they'll try. But I'll bet that Green hasn't made this statement without getting legal advice first.

Don't know why this is being made into such a big deal. Who's business is it what games we attend? No-one gave Timmy abuse for boycotting the Arbroath game.

Was there not a clamour from other SPL clubs fans to boycott their OWN games if Rangers were admitted back into the SPL in the summer?

Indeed. They made that intention very clear to the chairmen of their respective clubs.

TBH, I dunno what went on between us and Dundee Utd in particular to cause the current feeling among the fans.

That alone is worthy of telling him to **** off.

I like the fact that we make money by not turning up. Also heard that Celtic fans have said they will buy tickets instead.

Even better, more money for us.

Of course Thomson will give you zero money for this game. Green ripped the rule book up with this statement.

I have to say, it would have been smarter for Charlie to have accepted the tickets, then returned them all unsold.
