He was on BBC Radio Newcastle this morning trying [failing] to defend the attached comments. Saying the comments were about all clubs [no they weren't: 'Sunderland Disease'], and that the club is the well-presented girl not the drunk girl jumping about with mascara running down her face [why say it then?]. Not sure what the point of the interview was. He failed to defend it well and it's just going to raise awareness of the his derogatory comments.
Summary: 'There are a queue of people looking to buy the club and we're in the process of evaluating what their plans are for the club and want to get it wrapped up as soon as possible so the club can move forward and make decisions in the summer' Obviously he loves a PR line so he may have been looking to drum up some interest if nobody looks like a good bet yet... surprised he didn't moot the idea of Donald staying, that would indicate he may genuinely sell us in the next month or two as he said a few weeks ago. Interesting interview 8:10 onwards here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07zfvhl
Being the cynic that I am, I think the "story" in the Sunday Express saying FPP are close to buying was "planted" by FPP to try and bring the asking price down. This story was "planted" by Madrox to make it appear there are more interested parties to try and up the asking price.
I definitely think the latter is true. I also think that the FPP story probably went out via Madrox for the same reason though, to prompt one of the other interested parties into a firmer bid.
Dont know why anyone would give oxygen to anything that toffee nosed hooray henry has to say. He failed, he has gone. People commenting on the gobbledygook he comes out with only give him cause to believe he is interesting or worse he has something credible to say or offer about our club
But it is worthy of speculation. I don't personally care about the fans bit because ultimately he's stepped down from the role he was in as a result, but if others do, there's nothing wrong with it. What he has to say about the state of the club's ownership, even if it's us having to decipher what is real and not, is definitely relevant to the club's future.
Why resign as a director then if he's on the front line still? He should be 'protecting his investment' behind the scenes, not giving radio interviews on the main station in the north east IMO.
