On another note, I really liked Jaiyesimi when he was in our U23s and I thought he looked good for you today. Glad he's found a good team after leaving us. I think Akin Famewo has been doing well for you but wasn't eligible today.
Agree, but think Rashica will go some way to fill the Buendia shaped hole. When he gets a run. Tzolis and Sargent have been poor. Would have been better spending all that money on one good striker. Yes, they might get injured, its a gamble etc, but Tzolis hasnt played and Sargent isnt close to being ready for PL. So no difference. Edit: Lees-Melou is just rubbish... could be a Stiepermann type and do a job in the Champ though?!
PLM has arguably been my biggest disappointment of those mentioned. Rashica has been getting better, but the others are young players who will hopefully develop, PLM is an experienced player who has played in the French top league and in European games sometimes captaining the side, but he hasn’t looked like an experienced player or a leader on the pitch. Really hope he kicks on in the second half of the season.
We need to remember Sargent is only 21 and Tzolis 19 so their time may come in the future while Rashica at 26 is in his prime years. Sargent's main value so far is his pressing and filling the gap defensively Buendia used to provide. The player we're really missing right now is Normann.
I doubt he's anywhere near the first team and would probably move on for a nominal fee. We got him from Luton for free , I would guess a few hundred grand half a million at most. His contract runs out in May so you may even get him for free
I'm guessing that you will be signing Famewo on a permanent at the end of the season. He is out of contract with us I believe.
Gilmour missed the game with an ankle injury that is likely to see him miss the midweek game so the midfield will be as it was today. Cantwell was out with illness but not covid
Possibly a good one to bow out gracefully in though without embarrassment, if we have a good run of games we could then focus on the league
Interesting MFW match report which highlights some of the key points of the game. The 3 halftime substitutions made all the difference to our play and it's worth noting Sargent and McLean's part in the build-up to the goal showing another of our midfielders capable of playing those through balls to set Pukki going. Lees-Melou is another IMO. The confidence a goal brings was also evident. Williams also made a difference and I think we'll see him start against West Ham. https://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/2022/01/10/fa-cup-match-report-charlton-1-city-0/
