8th October update; Experienced Right Back Chris Gunter (31) signs for Charlton Athletic on a permanent two year deal, with an option for a third year; www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5f7e1c31e84fc/done-deal-chris-gunter-is-an-addick A very decent signing in my view, welcome to CAFC Chris
9th October update; 28 year old striker Omar Bogle joins CAFC after being released from Cardiff City in the summer. Bogle joins on a permanent deal, 1 year in length with an optional second year... www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5f807fdb1bc40/done-deal-striker-omar-bogle-joins-the-addicks I hope Bogle can recapture some of his excellent form from a few years back. Now is his chance to prove he can make a difference at this level.

Last chance saloon for young Ryan. Hopefully, Lee Bowyer can sort his head out. Keep him out of Beckenham and away from alcohol and he could kick start his career.
Jonny Williams does it again for Wales with a terrific match winning goal, after a terrific match-winning assist in a previous game. I should be pleased for him, but since he's doing just enough to get by at Charlton, and not causing any problems for the opposition, it makes you wonder what the hell is going on?
Yes, it is a mystery. Can't be the lack of fans in the ground, because there weren't any at the Wales game (as far as I'm aware). Maybe Williams sees the Internationals as a bit of a 'free hit' he can walk away from for months at a time. At Charlton that's not the case. Maybe he feels he'd rather not make a mistake and keep his head down, than try to stand out and get criticised for a gaffe or two. Hope I'm wrong.
My theory is that he rarely seems to start under Bowyer. You only ever bring on an attacker if you're playing poorly/losing, therefore he comes in to a game with a lot of expectation on his shoulders.
15th October update; Three Charlton midfielders go out on loan; George Lapslie - season long loan to Mansfield Town Erhun Oztumer - season long loan to Bristol City Ben Dempsey - loan to Woking, until January 9th 2021
Amos has not been offered a contract extension as far as I know, which is surprising. Like Phillips, he only has a year to go, yet Phillips was offered a 3-year contract which he declined. This suggests that Phillips is more highly rated, yet Amos is No. 1. So why not a longer contract for Amos?
Don't know. Amos is 5 years older than Phillips, but still only 30. Goalkeepers can usually play their best game well into their 30's.
16th October update ... WINDOW CLOSED One player leaves; Goalkeeper Dillon Phillips (25) goes to Cardiff City. Best of luck Dillon Two new season-long loan signings come in; Forward Andrew Shinnie (31) comes in from Luton Town Attacking midfielder Paul Smyth (23) comes in from Queens Park Rangers
26th October update: Right Back Adam Matthews (28) signs a new 1 year deal at Charlton Athletic. Welcome back Adam
27th October update; As Butterfield has shown us, Ashley Maynard-Brewer has signed a new contract with Charlton, keeping him with us until at least 2023
Alfie Doughty needs an operation for a "big big tear" according to Louis Mendez. Out for about 4 months.
