There was an Irish stable lad bricking a similar bet a few years back, £50 accumulator . The trainer had entered one of his selections in two races, fortunately at the declaration stage it ran in the correct race for the punter. And it won, horse and bet alike, for over a million quid. This weeks bet stands at just short of 93k. I would take the cash out Not least of all for the reasons the Betfair spokesman has pointed out.... "hope that Envoi Allen beats his seven opponents and also safely negotiate the 16 fences" That quote has to be up there with Fergies mind games at his best.
The fact that the bookie has a £250 k maximum pay out but has agreed to honour the bet to it's full value should prompt the lad to cash out. In normal circumstances and many years ago before cash out,he'd be waiting on Envoi Allen for £250k(with no safety net). They've offered him £275k(albeit the bet is worth £511 k).Envoi Allen 'should' win pulling a cart but how many times have we seen odds on shots losing? I'd take the money and run.Yes,Envoi Allen could bolt up and he'll rue his decision but if it sends the birch flying, goes through a fence and falls or unseats,he'll question his decision for the rest of his life.
Kim Muir Handicap Chase Thursday 18th March - 4:50pm Bob Mahler 22/1 1pt E/W. Paddy and Betfair 20/1 Unibet and BetVictor Last years third placed horse has somehow managed to come back into this years renewal 5lb lower than the mark of 140 that he placed from last year. That screams out at us. You wouldn’t be choosing him on form really, with 3x pulled ups to his name to start 2020, he plugged on into 3rd in the Edinburgh National, a race he won before last years third. The ground drying out will be in his favour with his last three wins coming on Good/Soft or Good and all four wins have come on spring ground. He obviously thrives around this time of year. Another horse that likes to bowl along from the front with the pace, the kind of horses you want to be on at the festival so far. A big plus. We cant help but feel he has been laid out for this and what a job they have done getting him 5lb lower.
Ryanair Chase Thursday 18th March 2:30pm Min 4/1 - 2pt General Minimum price: 4/1 Last years winner, Min, comes into this race off a tailed off effort last time out, but we think you can put a line through his last run. 2 miles is not his trip and its safe to say that wasn't a true showing of his abilities, he was taken off his feet by the speed of the race and needs this return to 2m4f which saw him win the John Durkan at Punchestown in November. Min is the classiest horse in the race, 6/7 over distance only losing on soft ground at Aintree and is three lbs clear of the rest of the field based on ratings. In winning last year's renewal, he was beating a classier field than that which he faces today.
Mares Novices Hurdle Thursday 18th March 4:15pm Royal Kahala 6/1 Betvictor & Unibet 11/2 general - 2pts win Minimum price: 9/2 A race normally dominated by Willie Mullins, one of our selections is Peter Fahey mare, Royal Kahala. She's beaten Gauloise and Hook Up, currently second and third in the betting, and although second to Roseys Hollow last time out, she was giving away 4lbs, whereas now is getting 5lbs from Gauloise and Roseys Hollow. I think the step up in trip will be a positive and will help hugely.
Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Thursday 18th March 1:55pm Spiritofthegames 20/1 with Bet365 paying 1/4 odds. Hills paying 1/5 odds 1.5pts EW. Other books offer better EW places, but their price is significantly worse. Minimum price: 12/1 I bang on about this horse every year for a Festival handicap and this year is no different - Spiritofthegames! Run three times at the Festival, coming third, fifth and sixth. Previously aimed at the Brown Advisory Handicap Chase, this year he has been placed into a hurdle race for the first time at the meeting. Will be held up and will stay on at least into a place, with the step up in trip helping hugely and 20/1 is a huge price. He was entered in three races this year, with connections clearly choosing this as his best chance this year, running off a nice weight of 11st 2lbs.
The lads on the opening show at the moment....He's struck a deal with Betfair, not quite sure what he's done(couldn't understand what he meant) here but he's partially cashed out. I think he's left a sizeable sum on the horse and took partial payment.
So,here's an example from yesterday(son in law).First 3 won, favourite in the last 6/4. Cashed out, just as well.Favourite went off at shorter odds and got stuffed.
Not too long ago, a stable lad at Nicky Henderson had an accumulator that was £1 million... it won!!... he resigned and set up training his own (seem to think in USA)...
