Aston Villa has suspended its chief executive just days after losing the match badged as the most lucrative in world football. It comes as the football club faces the potential threat of a winding-up order over a multi-million pound tax bill. One source said the bill fell due last week, and that the grace period to make the payment could be as short as a week. If HMRC did serve a winding-up order against Villa, it could threaten the existence of one of the founder members of the English Football League in 1888. However, a source close to the club insisted on Tuesday that its board was "confident of making a substantial tax payment within days". Villa have suspended Keith Wyness, its chief executive since 2016, amid what sources described as efforts by him to find new funding to see the club through its current funding crisis.
We used to get wound up at least once a month. I think Martin Fish walking out of court was the only time I saw anything about Hull City on the local news.
Sounds familiar ? We had to sell/auction Michael Turner when our tax demand arrived under Bartlett and Duffen. Wonder who Villa will be hawking ?
And how much for Grealish? And now the tax man cometh? Bruce staying? They are skint, he's out of there if he can't buy another team for the coming season.
One day journalist may recognise the difference between a winding up petition, and winding up order. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
A positive from City's perspective is that Moses's apparent move to Villa will be scuppered, he may now have no option but to stay Bruce was his way out, however Bruce's own role maybe questioned. Villas Dr Xiu put a great deal of faith in Bruce's spending approach this season which has contributed to the financial position Villa reside.
Wouldn't like to guess, a culmination of his first season and the last seasons transfer fees and the wage bill would surely have dwarfed the majority of teams in the championship. I seem to remember Dr Tony Xiu spouting off on his twitter account that he was gambling a great deal on promotion this year, maybe gambling too much?
That said this season would have been made up of loans but heavy on the wage bill a la Snodgrass and Grabban, whom replaced the previous season spending spree of McCormack, Hogan and I think Kodje all 3 costing upwards of £35m
Really rattles you doesn't it when someone knows more than you. One of the Abel will never sign for Leeds gang, Arf
Surprisingly, Baron Scattercash only spent 2.5m on incomings, and received 14.5m. A profit that subsidised loan wages. Not least of all, Terry. The season before, about 35m.
I got told by a mate that Hogan is on £50k a week. Terry was apparently on £80k. Apparently it was **** or bust with a premier league budget to get promoted.
They are apparently willing to sell anyone, they need to raise 40m just to get where they need to be for FFP. Can't see Brucie being there next season, think his is a rolling contract isn't it?
