I thought most of our food from overseas comes by boat.. containers and ate then trucked out from there, or by air!

 

The PM referred to the 80% of driverless freight as the 'vast majority' which is more hyperbole. (A vast majority iis actually 90+)

That 80% of containerised goods is generally non perishable items such as car parts, Chinese electrical goods, etc. The remaining 20%, carried in lorries, is more likely to be perishable goods such as Italian tomatoes, Spanish citrus fruits, French vegetables, etc.
