Yep he needed to go, never the same after Ba departed. Wish him well and thanks for that goal against Chelsea, one of my all time favourites. (The goal that is not Cisse)
4 amazing months, then 4 years of massive disappointment, thought we'd be stuck with him tbh, the fact we managed to get any money for him is a massive bonus.
£4m is about right. I was in china a couple of weeks ago and they are really getting their act together.
Cisse was absolutely fantastic when he first came on board, but he was never able to reproduce anything like that early form on a consistent basis. In fact, id say he's been pretty poor for a couple of seasons now. Another player who's time had come and gone and, whilst I wish him no malice, I'm pleased we are looking to move in another direction. Id like to see at least a couple more follow him up Barrack Road and offski, but the departures we have seen so far are a really good start for me.
One thing is for sure. He knows where the back of the net is. But he is not really of today's game. He doesn't bring enough all round contribution.
Cissé and Pele upfront will score about 30 goals each. Gonna put a punt on Shanghai to win whatever league that is. Cissé always needed a partner up front. In the premier league there seems to be no 4-4-2 right now. On international level 4-4-2 has shown to be quite viable still. Think Cissé will do well in China.
