    Here we go…..

11,35 Fairyhouse, I Am Maximus, exiting novice chaser, 1st run for Mullins yard, he’s classy and well fancied. – 2/1 most bookies.

12,35 Sandown, Whiskey Express, better for comeback run, well weighted, improvement to come, well fancied. – each way, 15/2 most bookies.

3,30 Sandown, Desie Alba, fitter for reappearance run, loves Sandown, fancied. – each way, 9/2 most bookies.

2.40 Aintree – Gunsight Ridge (e/w) - 9/2 Corals, Ladbrokes, Betfred, Paddy Power, generally 4/1
    Generally Top 4 Places.
An improving handicapper, he won nicely at Sandown last season having previously bumped into the rather well handicapped L’homme Presse at Exeter. He was then ridden too aggressively back at Sandown when 3rd to course specialist Dolos before disappointing on his final start. He reappeared here last month and looked an improved, more settled performer as he used to be a little keen in his races. Now he’s racing more efficiently he could well continue to improve and looks sure to improve for this longer trip. He’s only up 4lbs for that impressive return and holds very solid claims over a course he’s proven himself over.

    3.15 Aintree – Walking On Air - generally 10/3
A really interesting runner in a handicap off a potentially lenient mark. A non runner at Sandown due to the ground conditions should suit here and the fact connections took him out last time suggests they like him. He was really impressive when winning his hurdles debut at Newbury as was immediately quoted for The Festival. Unfortunately, he met with a few small setbacks and was only seen again at Aintree where he didn’t jump well, and connections have subsequently suggested he probably shouldn’t have run as he wasn’t quite ready. A handicap rating of 132 could hugely underestimate his ability and he’s one to be with here.

    7.50 Wolverhampton – Sunstone - generally 6/5
A nice filly for the Sir Michael Stoute yard, she’s steadily improved with racing having not shown much on her first couple of starts, she ran with great promise on her third start and really should have won on her handicap debut last time. A notebook horse from that day, she met with all sorts of trouble in running and finished on the bridle. She’s considered better than her mark and should be hard to beat in this relatively weak event.

    Notebook Comments:
    Wolverhampton, Sunstone
From a wide draw, Richard Kingscote dropped Sunstone towards the back of the main field and onto the inside rail, where she found plenty of cover but in a position where they were also likely to find some trouble in running. She showed signs of inexperience at times, with her jockey just having to niggle her along to keep her interested, but she responded well every time. As the race got serious, she looked to hold every chance, but found herself trapped with nowhere to go, whilst other horses held up off the pace came wide, as did the eventual winner who was upsides Sunstone entering the home straight. Sunstone literally ran up the back of horses inside the final furlong and was never able to hit full stride, finishing on the bridle and beaten only 3 ½ lengths. Not her jockey's finest ride and with a clear run she’d have probably won. Hopefully losses only lent until next time. She’s a completely unexposed filly and is a good deal better than her handicap mark.

    Already Advised.
3.30 Sandown – Revels Hill – 15/8 Skybet, William Hill, Bet Victor, generally 7/4.
A notebook horse from last time when running a remarkable race considering he was running over such an inadequate trip and in what looked a decent race. Whilst the winner won well at Ascot, Revels Hills stayed on strongly into 2nd place over 2 ½ miles, and this step up to a mile further will really suit and he’s a strong stayer as shown when winning over a similar distance at Taunton last year. He’s a big powerful chaser and is very much still unexposed having run over fences just 6 times now and taking a big step forward with each race. He’s very much expected to build on that reappearance and take a good deal of beating here.

    Notebook Comments:
    Ascot, Revels Hill
Ran well over an inadequate trip of 2m5f considering he won at the end of last season over 3 ½ miles. This was only his 11th career start and 6th over fences so he’s still only learning and has the size and scope to continue to improve. Given a patient ride, he had no chance with the impressive winner but stayed on best of all to finish a hugely respectful runner up. He’s sure to be stepped up to a more suitable trip next time and is one to follow.

    17:20 Wolverhampton, Bora Bora
    1pt win

19:20 Wolverhampton, King Of The South
    1pt win

    2.55 Uttoxeter – Sholokjack – 15/8 Bet365, generally 13/8
A Point To Point winner, he made a good start to his hurdles career last season winning on his debut at Leicester and then following up under a penalty at Wetherby. Outclassed in a Grade 2 on his final start, that would still have been some valuable experience before embarking on a chase career this season. He looks to be on a potentially nice mark, is related to a chase winner and reports suggest he’s expected to improve now he’s sent over fences for a stable that can do no wrong at the moment.

    8.20 Southwell – Infinitive – 9/4 bet365, generally 2/1
makes her handicap debut here and could be fairly treated off a mark of 75 based on her form to date and the fact she’s sure to still be improving. The form of her eye-catching 5th at Yarmouth has worked out well with all of those finishing in front of her subsequently winning, with one of those being her conqueror last time here at Southwell, where both fillies pulled moles clear of the field. This looks a winnable opportunity for the Sir Michael Stoute filly

    5:50 Southwell, Medici Chapel - 2pt win 5/2 generally
Well beat on her debut run at Newmarket, but a combination of track position, not handling the testing ground, not handling the track and her jockey easing off very early when accepting these factors, means that she's worth an interest when encountering more conventional conditions such as tomorrow at Wolverhampton. That race at Newmarket was the second division of the two 2yo's fillies' novices run that day, but it was run in a quicker time than the first division which contained tomorrow's fav for this race 'Wanttoplantatree', and although she looked to perform much better in finishing 6th, I still think that there could be much more to come from MC on better ground/flatter track. She's a half-sister to two useful all-weather performers including good old 'Duke Of Firenze', and if she enjoys tomorrow's conditions, then I'm sure she'll perform far better in what's a much easier looking assignment.

    7:50 Southwell, Foursome - 1pt e/w 14/1 generally (4 places)
Ran well when 3rd and having her first start for Olly Willams last time in a race that was run at a good pace at this track last month to produce a very good time-figure. She's an ex-Willie Haggas filly that showed some decent form for that yard, and a few times looked as though this longer trip might suit. The second horse (Haku) has subsequently won at Kempton to frank her last piece of form, and although tomorrow's race looks competitive, and leaving her vulnerable to a few in form males, I still think she looks a little overpriced

Our stable contact is keen on Tyndrum Gold, 6.00 at Kempton who is a nice sort and did well to beat a short priced fav on his debut. He’s worked nicely since then and is expected to take some beating; but is a shade of Odds On, so no bet advised.

We’ve not had a great start to the month and advising Odds On Favs isn’t really our thing.
