A must win fixture, lose and we're out of the CL at a cost of some £45m to the club coffers from UEFA prize money, matchday receipts and TV payments. Rashford is suspended, so most likely Hojlund up front with Garnacho and Antony banging them in from the wings. Hopefully Mainoo gets another start, hopefully Mount doesn't, bar injuries, the rest pretty much pick themselves.
Mount is allegedly getting sold in Jan. I have no idea how we could have torpedoed that transfer so badly. Astonishing! Anyway, welcome to hell, indeed!
Right there, that one transfer encapsulates our ridiculous transfer dealings. A player bought in to plug a hole in midfield that we didn't actually have, at a cost that impacted on more important transfer business, senseless.
Watching your game with interest tonight...I don't wish anything bad on your players but a good thrashing and a few minor knocks to all your best players would be quite nice.
Mount, Antony, Casemiro and Varane all being sold 'allegedly'. (curtesy of BBC gossip column, which is always right, obvs) All bar one a ten Hag signing. While we keep Ole and Mourinho signings on the books. Bollocks, in other words. Unless of course ten Hag is also going.
I don't see the conflict. All those players getting sold should not affect the manager's standing. Simply because a team has a new manager doesn't mean that all his signings should be the ones starting games. If we had a sound structure, ETH wouldn't be the one signing the players to begin with. Plus the logic dictates that every transfer is essentially a gamble. And the devil that you know, tried and tested, is far better than a random devil. Of course, ETH knows this. He knows that he has to pick players on merit and form. We have lost every time he has not follow that simple rule. If transfers have not worked out, let them go and stop holding onto the baggage with stupid wages to match. Mount has provided a single assist all season - from a corner. Fred would have scored a couple by now. Antony provides no intensity by playing on the right with his riged left foot, which makes our play too predictable. Casemiro is getting older as well. Should have never been given that insane salary. These are things that Ratcliffe has alledged point out as structurally stupid.
Well Mount is injured, and pretty much has been all season. If Casemiro does leave because he's 'too old', then that's where Mount can look to play. Are you watching Antony right now by the way? The point is, don't believe the media gossip as gospel.
Bit frantic at times! Just a bit. If I were to make a change it would be Mainoo on for McTominay. In fact I'd definitely make that change.
Amrabat needs to come off at half time, thankfully Mainoo has had a chance from the bench to get into the atmosphere and won't be too intimidated
